Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Target Scandal: Steinhafel's severance bigger than severance of 17,000 Canadian workers

Steinhafel's severance will be bigger than severance received by 17,000 people working in Canada that are losing jobs. In short, they'll take home 61 million USD, while the Canadians (all 17,000 of them) will take home around 56 million USD. Now, try to make sense out of this? You have a person who failed miserably at anything he touched, security breaches, strategic mistakes, brand deterioration, store closures, lost market share, the Canadian debacle and he gets to take home more money than an army of hard working people. What's going on here guys, how did we get here, where are shareholders, where is the board, where are shareholder activities, where is government, this is all simply a big robbery?

AS I understand it, within that 56 mil (for Candada) is hidden part of Greg's severance. TGT won't break out the 56 to show where it's all going.

Either way you cut it we are screwed, the big fish will gorge on fat golden parachute and we will be left in the dust picking crumbs. There is nothing we can do about it. That's how it works over here.

We should sue him and ask for a refund. Get the money back and give it to people who were just let go.

What's wrong with being populist? Is it any worse than being capitalist? Or any -ist for that matter?

This is called capitalism, that's how it works, markets determine prices, and in this case the market said that he'll be paid more than 17K workers. Get over it.
