Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Last Year and the way things are now

Last year we were told about the layoffs in our own meeting that was later in the day, after those that were negatively affected were notified. It is crazy though how much money gets wasted around here. Our refresh process had us refreshing assets for tts every 3 years and everyone else 4 or 5 years depending on where they were. Logistically it was a nightmare and had us contracting out Dell at nearly a half million dollars to simply swap out PCs. Leadership and their decisions in regards to off-shoring and relinquishing control of vital services to external vendors is such a mess. They hire vendors that are 'cheaper' only to spend more in the long haul due to them being far less efficient. A great example of this is when they laid the tools team off and gave the ServiceNow support to another vendor. That vendor made a mess of things and Target had to bring in a specialized vendor 'fruition' which came in to resolve things. Ironic thing is they sent in the Target team member that they hired after Target laid them off. Now Target had the same person and paid twice as much for their time. Craziness.

Refreshes on assets is standard industry practice and a half million doesnt actually sound like that much compared to other licensing costs in IT. As for outsourcing yeah there has often been too much but it doesnt surprise me in IT given the unemployment in IT is around 0%. There are more open jobs out there then people to fill them. Last year when i was cut it took me 6weeks to find a new job and i was interviewing with 5 companies when i got the offer.

ADD KRUSTY THE CLOWN'S QUOTE HERE! "WAaaHAAa HAAhAA!!! Looks like Government work to me!!!"

Unfortunately that is how hq rolls... stupidity is their basis and then they blame others for their failures.

I couldn't agree more. The amount of irrational short sighted decisions is astounding. How many times do we have to prove that contractors only goal is to add more contractors. They couldn't care less about quality or efficiency. It's almost like we have people who know nothing about technology running TTS. Oh wait...
