i'm so ready to leave this place. there has got to be somewhere else that appreciates hard work, talent and effort. people are not appreciated at this company. only dollar signs are welcomed here and everyone else is expendable. such a shame. it had promise years ago and now it is just an abandoned explorers future playground.

@AnonIcan'tjustquityoumoron - unmanageable workload? have you walked through the great hall lately? have you been to rec room at the commons? until both of those places are empty because people actually have work to do talking about unmanageable workload is crazy. plenty of people with dick to do.
As for "do something about it"... there are plenty of us who have been searching, who have heard of wonderful teams within this organization and who want to stay; however, some of us are in awful positions because of increased (and unmanageable) workload because of the re-orgs going on as a result of the layoffs. Unfortunately, there is a movement freeze within Target and a Minneapolis market flooded with people consisting of tons of Target and other local HQ layoff candidates. In addition, if I were you, Anonymous66620, I would be careful what you wish for... with the closing of all open head count if I leave, you will be left with the unmanageable workload... vicious cycle, isn't it?
I was an original member of Target Canada in 2012. And I am saddened by the fact that my work and the work of my fellow team members is ending up in closed stores. But what doesn't amaze me is the cattiness of writers like 66610, 66620, 66622, etc. If a current employee is unhappy with their work, the employer should find ways to improve the situation, not just tell them to leave. And the comment from 66610 that states "I hope you get cut too" represents the current culture at Target. That culture needs to change otherwise Target is in line to be the next Walmart.
I'd like to know if the OP has been actively looking for a new job. Nothing irks me more than people who complain about their job and/or life and do nothing to change it.
Anon66631 - very well stated. I will add that while quitting and getting a new job is a valid option, it is not always an easy one if you have a family to worry about and are responsible for. If you are just 1 person, it may be easier, but if you have others that depend on you, you can't easily just quit and start up somewhere else.
This is the problem at Target. Whole departments of people that at one time totally loved their job are now unhappy with them. This is a symptomatic problem of something larger than 1 person not liking their job. There are people that have a lot of time and energy invested into where they are and are simply saddened by where things have gone over the last few years.
Anon66610 and anyone else who is hammering on 66600 for airing his grievances is really quite typical of people who feel like they are 'leaders' at Target. they have no empathy for anyone and only know and care about their own happiness.
I do agree though, that if you are not happy with where you are that you should leave. I did.
Anon66620 - so let me guess - you are likely a male, 27 years old, probably working on a masters degree from St Thomas, think you know how to lead people, but actually have no experience doing it. You like to put together powerpoints that are pretty and state nothing and like to delegate so if things go wrong it is not your fault. How close am I :)
There is plenty of truth in the laziness it takes to post this. If you truly want a different route in your life, if you don't enjoy what you're doing... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Waiting for an excuse like a severance package to make changes in your life that YOU want is letting your life control you.
Control your life. Do what you want.
Sorry, but this pisses me off. If you hate your job, then QUIT. There are lots of people that love their jobs and don't want to get let go and here you are wishing it were you? Man up and leave then instead of taking up valuable space. Ridiculous.
Take it easy Anon66610 ~ everyone is allowed to comment on their opinion and feelings. The reality is that Anon66600 has comments that are very close to the truth. If you are over 30 at Target and work hard, it means little if you aren't playing the Target image game. It's kind of like high school - you have the pretty people and then the rest of us who work and actually know how to get things done. Sorry, but it's the truth and it does take away from the enjoyment of the job.
Some people actually enjoy their jobs. Maybe you should have quit and someone might have had the chance to keep a job they care about. I hope you get cut too
