Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Inventory? Just say no.

We have associates refusing to do late nite inventory. Corp says there’s nothing we can do that inventory is voluntary for all hourly associates, except support, leads, and AP. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

with that twisted logic, if everyone is hired to do everything and work eveywhere, the store manager should be working an 8 hour shift on the dock or on the register, cleaning restrooms, and taking out the trash. Everyone also should be paid the exact same salary as the store manager over $100,000 per year, because you said 'eveyone is hired to do eveything and work eveywhere'....

What I have seen over and over is new hires are lied to by hiring managers. They are told they will be working only in the area they were hired for , then they get scheduled in other areas - so they quit.

Laugh all you want but not all of us of are stupid enough to believe your bull. Belk has been run like this for years and it's getting worse. When a store does not care how unhappy their customers are, that says it all. And if they didn't cut the staff to the bare bone, then it wouldn't be such a big deal when someone calls out. I mean 4 people total scheduled on a busy day. What a joke!

If I am unhappy with management, once again it is my choice how I feel. I don't think anybody in their right mind is happy with how Belk is run. And what's worse is Belk management and Hein park don't give a cr-p. And No I was not hired for inventory. And Belk is not in trouble because of people calling out but because of the lack of any humanity or decency in how they run things.

Everyone works everywhere?

That’s why belk is so messed up. Who in their right mind would knowingly take a job with unclear expectations where your running around doing the job of three people? I smell a shill, or at the very least someone who is uninformed, uneducated, and may have been brainwashed by belk. Most of the people with belk were hired for one job, prior to the takeover by Sycamore partners, which as we all know has devastated Belk financially and alienated countless numbers of customers and employees, from the highest level to the lowest level, and everyone in between.

This makes me laugh. You are hired to do this job. You are hired to do whatever your employer tells you they need you to do to make the day successful. No one is hired for one job anymore, everyone works everywhere and does everything. Someone calls out , it affects everyone, so maybe you shouldn’t be so unhappy with management, but the employees that continuously call out and makes everyone shift where they will be working.

Whoever responded to these posts calling associates a buttercup is obviously some Belk executive or member of upper management who is bitter that belk is failing, that managers no longer have the control to abuse and take advantage of associates for little to no pay, and that customers echo the same sentiment as the majority of the belk employees. It’s not only sad, but it shows the pathetic desperation Belk has to gaslight people. smh.

Not wanting to be forced to do a job that we were not hired for because Belk is too cheap and greedy to hire a company to do it, does not make someone a buttercup, Get a grip. Nobody that works for Belk is a buttercup Belk is brutal. Oh I know just quit. I plan on it and so many people will be leaving soon.

Well of course there will be day shifts working but if inventory is in your area then they will pick who is the day shift. That day shift worker will work another area inventory at some time. If they let you say you are uncomfortable working night shifts, then who will work, no one wants to work nights but you have to su-k it up for team and do it. We have to many buttercups who don’t want to put in the effort but wants to be paid and promoted.

Obviously not everyone takes inventory, If everyone did inventory then nobody would be working in the stores during the day after inventory except the janitor. That post from a so called manager makes no sense. 🤷‍♀️

BELk 204 Lake city FL
We are told to switch associates uncomfortable working overnight inventory to day shift. This was told by HRBP. I’m a manger at 204 and have no reason to lie and am telling you the truth 100%. You said your a manager…what store do you work at?

Sweetie the only ones who doesn’t partake in inventory is janitorial. I am in management and you are undoubtedly not. Try to tell them you won’t partake it. See what happens. Good luck

Inventory is not required if the associate is uncomfortable or unable to work an overnight shift. If they say they can’t work it, you have to change them to a day shift, you can call your HRBP and ask. It’s only required for managers, leads, support. They can’t force someone to work an overnight shift if they are uncomfortable or unable, it can be a liability issue as well, try to challenge it with Human Resources/and or corporate are you will see.

Don’t know where you heard that inventory was voluntary, that is not correct, inventory is part of your job description and everyone partakes in it. You don’t have a choice to be there or not. If you don’t go it’s a no call, no show. Don’t let this site give you incorrect information.

My store is such a mess and we have a ton of product. It will take hours of prep work to do it right...then actually scanning it could last into the following day ( we are a small door) I bet we don't open until noon the next day
