I know my RIF day is coming. Too many people under my director having been sitting with little to nothing to do for a couple months. I suspect the director is keeping work for his direct reports with not enough to pass to those of us that report up to the manager that reports to this director. Some days I am okay with it. Others days I am afraid. I have been through it before and everything comes out okay.

Some of your team will get work while others will get nothing. The nothings are the ones they are going to RIF. Happened to my group.
That’s the issue … Directors/Management expect others to fill their role, while they butt in everyone else’s role or waste time running their mouths and saying nothing in meetings. If I have to ask for work, then something seriously is wrong with the chain of command. You are overwhelmed because you are in the wrong position.
Have you asked for more work from your director? Seriously, sometimes they are too busy to know you want something. Or, sometimes they have a hard time trusting you will take something and run with it because that is what they need bc they are overwhelmed. It’s a two way street, don’t wait for handouts, make something happen. As MLk said “if you have to be a janitor, be the best one out there”

They, along with Tyson, Wells Fargo, Cargill, Perdue, & hundreds more “corporations, have left a path pollution, price fixing, illegal & repetitive denials for treatments, prescription medications and maintenance malfeasance over 20 years.
I sat around for a year doing nothing. In most cases your boss will cover for you. If they admit there is no work. They will have to reduce staff, which will impact them.
With layoffs looming, management is purposely putting resources in boxes to ensure the outcome they want. Withholding work, bogus reviews, etc. … it’s all to ensure the outcome they want not the outcome deserved.
