I’ve been trying to find something for months. I would take even a lower pay. No decent offers yet. It’s demoralizing, and I’m panicking about having to stay here until they lay me off. I need a job, I just don’t want this job anymore. I hope the rest of you who are looking are having better luck - that would lift my spirits.

Private sector is now in competition for jobs with public sector employees. In addition to all the other private sector employees currently looking for opportunities. The job market is a complete mess unless you have some sort of skill where you can freelance with companies/businesses. May the odds be in ALL of our favor!!!
I was laid off in November and I've applied for hundreds of jobs and it's nothing but rejection or crickets. I finally found a job and thank goodness I'll have a month gap where my severence (if that's what you want to call it, since it's partly funded by unemployment money) and starting my new job. I gave this company nearly 2 decades of my life and wish I would have left long ago! NO one is safe! The current CEO ruined this company.
Parallels to Rome … the proposed solutions by Vivek/Elon is not the answer, they are problem. I like them both, but they are wrong on this.
- Economic troubles and overreliance on slave labor (offshore/h1-b)
- East and West failed to adequately work together to combat outside threats, and the two often squabbled over resources and military aid. (Dems/Rep)
- Overspend/Corruption (DOGE to correct, but …)
- immigrants who do not have shared values within (culture wars, instead of American culture)
- Loss of traditional values (lost, but supposed to renew with new leadership)
- Weakened military (losing ground to China and others, sharing secrets through temp immigration is not the answer)

Coworkers and I have been looking for months also. The new year in our dpt is about to be a nightmare- with zero guildance on the changes. So Goodluck! Hopefully we all find something worth the pay!
H1-B + Offshoring != America First. Something has to give, companies are Gaslighting saying there is no American talent to cover up hiring cheap labor that will not question authority or dishonesty. Importing and exporting labor, while hogging all the riches for themselves is not American, that’s Globalism. If there is so much talent in Philippines, India, etc. then move your headquarters there. They won’t because they love the American culture they just said was the root of America’s demise.
Lies to support the corporate narrative that the DOGE has put out … everyone must come back to the office. This will be touted as the main factor in productivity, which will then be used by every executive to take work from home away … No American talent, so more H1-Bs needed. A UC Berkeley prof is saying their graduates can’t land a job after graduation. So we are to believe the talent in India is better than one of the top engineering schools in the US. DOGE hasn’t officially started and already shaping up to be anti-American.
It’s a lie that has been told for over a decade so US executives/board could hire cheap minions to do their bidding and extract the wealth from US communities. The Lie was not countered, because opportunities still existed, now … a reckoning. The truth is that the argument being made applies to the O-1 visa category, not H1-B. Elon/Vivek are lying and have started to use their platform to silence (X algorithm only supports Elon/Vivek stance now) and punish (demonetized people that disagree) the very people that supported them. All that free speech talk and USA first was a lie. They are Globalist and will do what is in their best interest, not the country. Down with DOGE, it’s there to advance Elon/Vivek, not the USA.
First quarter and into spring should pick up a little. The end of the year is a horrible time to look for jobs. Nobody wants to hire late 4th quarter.
