In yet another desperate move, belk is limiting store hours and therefore altering the hours of early morning employees. At our store we were told we were moving to a 7 yo 3 shift but low and behold when the schedule comes out everyone is scheduled 8 to 5. We are told this is incorporate directive" yet when we ask we are not shown written proof of this. Can't help but wonder if this is just another lie concocted by our lazy, incompetent management team 🤔

They push and push for the employees to get the customers to open a store card. They want more and more from employees and take more and more from them, especially part time. Took away the tiny little bit of PTO they use to get. No incentive! But yet managers get 7 weeks vacation and big bonuses. How about cutting down on some of that?!
I have been with Belk for nearly 20 years and
Operations has always been an early shift. Most associates work for Belk works another job and to just change the hours without notice is not fair to the employees. If the company respects the employee, they will get the same in return.
and I hope you find a job that does not pay minnimum wage
@131+1wbVZoes they are probably a lead...
Very unpleasant, belk-like response to hope someone's job is cut, though. I know belk is a miserable place that makes us all unhappy, but you could try and keep your nastiness to a minimum. I hope you find happiness!
Merch for $23 an hour? Are you a manager? Lead? I say BS
More like $15-$17. If you’re making $23 as Merch then you will be the first to go when Belk’s job cuts come around. LOL
I'm merch and make $23 an hour. You're telling me I could get $46 if I worked in sales? Wow, maybe I should consider making that change!!
@4el Stock, Housekeeping, sales set, and truck processing/merch are the lowest paid jobs at belk, sometimes 50% lower than that of associates and cosmetics associates.
Early morning merchandising shifts to set sales and put out new freight are hardly unproductive. Corporate is as d-mb as ever, and as usual management ruins the gs for everyone. That's where cuts should be made. Not to the staff that carries most of the workload.
They don’t want those early morning do nothing shifts. They watched managers and some associates come in a 7-3 or 6-3 shift and sit in the office and drink coffee, not really doing anything, sure they pick and pack, but productivity is
Incredibly slow in those early morning hours. Managers were also claiming to work 7-3 or 7-4 when actually some would work 8-2 or 7-1, so it’s become a real issue that corporate felt had to be addressed.
How are you working 8 to 5. We were told no one can come in but an hour before store opens at 11. So that would be 10:00 for the earliest shift?????
