Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

3 swipes, not worth it.

I find myself here in the office for my swipe trying to avoid some BS email. I got sideswiped on the way to work. And wonder is this sh-t worth it? You know this began as a hissy fit from Temu. She showed up on a Monday and got mad no one else did. Because if given a choice sane people would avoid the office on Mondays. I’m just venting. Pardon my rant, this is bullsh-t, yes I have insurance but now I have ANOTHER thing to deal with on top of the additional work caused by the “innovation” cr-p from Accenture. Thanks Temu. BTW Temu= “T”, our lower quality CEO. Be careful everyone.

Some of y’all really need to quit complaining and sharing conspiracy theories. They are not going to mandating 6 hours or requiring employees to badge swipe on the way out the door.

Is it really that hard to go in the office 3 days a week? Before Covid we all were in the office 5 days a week.

Let me tell you, if you have to be in the office 6 hours or more to get credit for a badge swipe, no one in Denver is keeping their jobs … wait, no one in Denver is keeping their jobs since they are all being relocated to where all the talent (oops, I mean corporate welfare tax incentives) apparently is: Frisco, TX (except for the exceptions made for those going to Charlotte).

Thank you, Temu (rofl lmfao). Your stewardship is unparalleled.

I guess we can kiss tuition reimbursement goodbye in 2025 as some of those changes.

"Real companies focus on output and results.

Not badge swipes."

I agree, but when your company is continuously missing the mark as seen by it's awful financials, leadership has to find a scapegoat other than looking in the mirror at themselves.

The 8 week average below 3 days is all they are focused on. If you are below starting in March you and your boss will get an email putting you on notice. You will then have 4 weeks to correct or your boss will have to take “corrective action”.

Some of this seems to have been written by HR.

I know this isn't the place to be looking at the bright side of things, but I see my peers in the industry being forced into the office 5 days a week left and right. To the extent that it is becoming a competitive advantage for employees to be coming in 3 days a week at TIAA. Complaining about needing to come in for 6 hours to qualify as a day baffles me. I hope that the policy sticks at 3 days as it makes a big difference to quality of life and family.

I'm not writing to the folks who come on here to publish conspiracy stories. For everyone else, in case you start wondering if this is true...

1- AT&T is the latest company to announce 5 day in office requirements. The notion that our 3-day policy is some outlier practice imposed by an egotistical CEO doesn't reflect reality. You're giving T too much credit if you think she is a lone voice here... and she isn't advocating for 5 days.

2- What's coming in 2025 is simply having managers being required to explain why there folks aren't coming in 3.0 days. There could be a good reason. But we also know managers who are letting their folks slide. Now the manager is going to be exposed if they keep OKing their people not coming in 3.0 for the whole year without a valid reason.

3- There is NO plan to track hours in the office. That is a complete lie. If you commute all the way into the office and then turn around and leave after an hour, and you think you're somehow sticking it to the company vs being a fool who just drove 2 hours to be in the office for an hour, the company is happy to let you keep thinking that. Your work performance will speak for itself. No need to track hours.

Well, most sites are going to have to swipe out when they leave so it’ll make their tracking a little easier to monitor the number of hours you are in office.

Strict adherence, no exceptions. Make sure you don’t accidentally swipe out at 5hrs 58mins. Also, good luck with the lines at the card reader when you are running late to get to a meeting or leave to live your life.

I heard that about her showing up alone on a Monday. They said it was in Dallas and she was pi---d and the increase in days in office stemmed directly from that shortly thereafter.

Maybe if she knew what real people go through and why we wouldn’t want to drive in on a Monday (except all the bigwigs get chauffeured)…

Gotta love how the people at the top pretend like that are just like us but have all of the extra conveniences to get through their week/life easier and then don’t understand how it’s so hard for us without.

I hope this isn’t true as most teams are understaffed, underpaid and overworked.

What a waste of time and resources to even setup this tracking. These are non value added tasks that need to be cut.

Selling the 6 hour requirement. HR can’t even figure out how to calculate rolling averages with conditions so monitoring and reporting on time in the office coupled with badge swipe rolling averages seems like a monumental lift.

I heard they are going to start monitoring hours... need to have at least 6 hours to call a day. Fu--ing ridiculous!

No of course it’s not worth it plus I hear changes are coming in 25. Nothing major but quicker and bigger crackdown if god forbid your 8 week average drops below 3/week.

Charlotte traffic gets worse and worse every day.

When you get to the office you kiss the ground and thank the Lord you made it there safely.

But hey - at least we got the swipe and I can now sit on Zoom.

Almost sp-t out my coffee re: Temu, our lower quality CEO. Thanks for the laugh!

Sorry you’re having to deal with the ramifications of someone else’s poor judgement and idiocracy (yes the side swipe AND the reason for in-office monitoring).

And no, none of this is worth it.
