Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Asked for educational stipend/ support for courses to improve skills and was denied

They can't even invest in their own employees growing.

Good luck having anyone wanting to stay around, this company is absolutely dog sh1t and has been the worst career decision I have made in my life.

I hope and pray every day I can BS hard enough in my resume to convince any other company to take me. This titanic is going down fast and violently. Bankrupt within 3 years

They paid for my PhD in power electronics, then fired me.

Ford won’t pay for your masters in art history. They would probably pay for a masters in gender studies though.

OP, they will support education for most employees. You shouldn't signal your reason for taking classes is to leave. They don't look at you as a good investment.

2 classes per semester, related to your work, should be fine. Not law, if you are an engineer, etc.

I’ve had no problem getting support for educational assistance. Once for a commmity college course and another for a private program. Both were within the past 3 years and approved quickly. Was told it’s an area we underspend in. Classes were related to my work area - software development.

I never had any problems getting approval for education as long as it was relevant to my job. But if I had asked to take a French history class as an IT person, they would have shot that down.

I’m sorry OP, but everyone these days is looking out for their own a-s. It’s cut throat. Say nothing, just get your stuff in order and head out. I hope you the best on your search, but the job market is rough as well.

you didn't say, what courses you were to take, is it relevant to your position, and how is all of that related to the bankruptcy.
