Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Help me understand

I don’t understand why there is always lying and secrecy around RIFs. Why not say it’s possible? If they are eliminating our jobs what does it hurt for us to start looking and voluntarily give it up? We were told multiple time by two VPs out positions were safe and that it was written in the HR contract that no jobs would not be eliminated. TheN BAM. I don’t understand

Help me understand...

When an SLT leader prioritizes themselves above all else, their staff becomes expendable—just headcount and admin expenses, not people. They consult some absurd spreadsheet to decide whose livelihood matters least (spoiler: theirs matters most). Why? To keep their org the biggest and ensure they close on that shiny new house in spring.

Cue the monthly RIF plan.

It’s the Circle of Elevance, Simba.

You are blessed if you have a manager who gives you a heads up that your team may not be safe. Of course, that person is also risking their job. But, it at least alerts you to the fact that it is a possibility, and you can start to get your head wrapped around it. Those who bury their heads in the sand are the ones who are devastated.

Not true. Our VP kept us posted through the last two RIFs. Information was not voluntarily given, however, when asked questions, there was absolute transparency.

This is a fake post. There is no way anyone from leadership would make that guarantee.

They are not only applying RIF onshore but also overworking offshore teams, leading to a loss of critical knowledge. It’s disheartening, especially given the consistent feedback that people do not want their information shared offshore—particularly when no cost savings have been passed on to consumers.

Investors would stay away from this place if they new what was going on.

Long ago, my director told me that things were not looking good for our department and to start looking. He was RIF'd a few weeks later.... then a month later the whole department was eliminated. The lead time let me move into another position without disruption.

I have come to the conclusion you cannot trust anyone at this horrid company, everyone lies and half truths. HR will certainly never tell you anything and it seems they are playing the “ stupid” card and if you ask them anything the answer is always I don’t know. Also they are not interested in the hiring us , I applied for many internal positions and was not selected due to being overqualified!!! Even though I wanted to step down into a less stressful job and I thought I made it clear in the interview. This company is absolutely horrible they way myself and others have been treated is awful and contradicts the line about their supposed mission and values.. this company and our “ leadership” leaves a bad taste in my mouth and always will I’ll never forget I was thrown out like trash , sc--w this place

Because if the truth and extent was known nobody would accept it. How much money is made off of migrants and offshoring by the top 1% could allow all of us to retire at 50. It’s a legal theft, so best to keep it 🤫
