Freddie boasting that in 2024 Suncor saved 20% on Turnarounds compared to previous five year average. This means either costs have gotten out-of-hand or scope has been drastically cut. I know for a fact that at the Edmonton Refinery the maintenance backlog has grown significantly in the past few years. There have been numerous near-misses such as a huge flammable gas leak in the hydrocracker. Personally I would think twice before accepting a position at one of the facilities.
