Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Fully Remote Update

Any updates for those of us who are fully remote and not near a HUB or client center? My manager doesn't know and it's been totally silent - I've heard no recent chatter at all.

Not enough desks for 5 days in the office. Quit trying to to stir up drama.

Rumor Jan 1, 5 days a week in office.

Only 50% are coming in 3 days? Is that true?

Three days is hard enough to achieve currently, think overall about 50% make it in 3 days a week or more. What makes people think 4 or 5 days a week would be remotely successful?

I can bet that ”hybrid” is just the stepping stone to full in office , the old generation demanding attendance to demonstrate power and control. Without a care in the world on the benefits for families remote work brings

No, new hires are NOT required to be in the office 5 days per week.

You’ve heard them say that they will be hiring in the hub areas. That is where they will focus talent searches. If you are not near a hub, and you are remote, you should be concerned. Keep in mind that all new hires will be required to be in house five days a week.

Start looking for a new job or get a really good pair of knee pads. The latter being the best way to retain or advance at USB.

Nothing happens overnight. USB was late in the RTO game compared to their peers. They certainly can’t layoff everyone who is not near a hub all at once. Does anyone know what percentage are not near a hub? They may whittle away for a couple of years. Maybe look into what is going on with Wells Fargo. They have been at this RTO longer than USB and of course we are going to copy them.

I know several who have been in an office but have been moved to remote. Some got laid off recently. The others are concerned.

What makes it even worse is they’re still hiring FTE remote positions while making those that have been remote for years feel like they could lose their job for it.

I am guessing after the first of the year, the crackdown will begin. We will be like WellsvFargo and BOA. Both are very strict about RTO.

I am hoping common sense trumps this ridiculousness

I'm not near a hub or a client center. I am near a location that USB has had for years that used to be for Elan ATM and debit services that they've started to force me to RTO meanwhile the site closes in April when the lease is up and no one I work with is based in this office. It's so stupid. My manager has zero idea what the heck they're going to do, make me remote, fire me, or force me to move closer to a hub to keep my job.

I wanna know why they are taking forever to figure all this out for the hubs? We dont know much about our hub yet. What is the radius? Will we be sharing desks? etc...

Start applying elsewhere or move to a hub.

If you are not near a hub, not willing to move near a hub, and not a unicorn in your role, you will eventually be gone.
