It is a part of your total compensation. Don't be swayed on artificial deadlines and manager pressures and lose that precious time you could spend with your family (the real one). Monthly layoffs have remaining employees picking up the extra work and it is fine to some extent but not at the cost of health. So don't be a martyr (more of a push over and a fool) losing your earned time-off. You are just a number.

Taking a sick day totally trumps using a vacation day....it's the thing to do
Agreed with everything here. Use more sick time. That's one thing, I struggle with, but with RTO, I can easily see more sick time in my future 😜
Beware of managers who ask you to take a vacation day for a mental health day. Use a sick day instead like it was intended.
If people used sick days for their mental health, maybe we have less cranky and stressed out workers.
Sick days are the same as vacation days, they are earned and are to be used since it’s part of your comp, just like the execs get stocks and a nice office as their comps
@1ky, it's part of the compensation package. Use your sick and safe leave. Sometimes you just need a mental health day. You do not have to be hacking up a lung to use your sick and SAFE leave!
I had an employee where the moment she earned 8 more hours of sick time, she would immediately call in. You could predict which weeks she was getting a cold.
Yup. I use up all my sick days, every year. It’s part of my compensation
Use. All your sick days, it’s part of your pay. When you are layed off, you will wish you used the sick days instead of coming in not feeling well or skipping family events
