Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

New Innovation Strategy: Workshops, Copilot, and... Layoffs?

"Big shoutout to U.S. Bank and Dilip for their groundbreaking Copilot rollout! Who even knew Copilot existed until U.S. Bank heroically announced… what’s been available forever? Just wrapped up an inspiring All Hands with Dilip, followed by a GenAI email that really pushed boundaries (of my patience). Workshops on Copilot are genius, though—why settle for endless top-notch online tutorials when we can sit through in-person sessions? Talk about innovation!

Seems Dilip’s bet is that developers can finally relax, because Copilot’s here to save the day! Who needs skilled devs when AI can autocomplete? Smelling big on more layoffs, too. Can’t wait for the next tech revelation: maybe a workshop on pressing 'Run' in an IDE or a national press release every time someone copies and pastes. Here’s hoping we get front-row seats to the next bank-driven revolution!"

It’s becoming clear that none of the tech leaders have a solid strategy or vision. They’re setting up a path that’ll only demotivate the capable people still around. Looks like we’re all just waiting for the dominoes to fall.

GitHub Copilot is an AI coding assistant that helps you write code faster and with less effort, allowing you to focus more energy on problem solving and collaboration.

What is copilot?

At this rate, looks like Dilip might beat us all to the exit. Betting on Copilot while sidelining talent? Bold strategy!

Yeah Dilip is on his way out too. Can tell from yesterday’s all staff call.

So many serious issues from technology strategy. No hope.

So, they’re betting it all on Copilot? Feels like the beginning of a dystopian chapter where AI replaces talent. Who’s next on the chopping block?

Key to success is having the right talent, not replacing them with AI. Copilot can’t innovate or solve real-world problems like skilled developers can.

Copilot is the OFFICIAL reason ... a front of sorts.

Offshoring to Indian consulting companies (WIPRO, TCS, Accenture, Cognizant etc.) is the REAL reason.

Honestly, it’s hard not to be nervous. If they’re putting all their faith in Copilot, it feels like they’re planning to cut down on devs soon. Just waiting to see how this all plays out.
