From a newer person working in government programs... what are you referring to?
HCSC's severance package generously gives 8 hours of paid time for every year of service, in addition to helping you sign up for COBRA!
can someone define generous for those with 5 or fewer years tenure? if we're talking just 1-2 weeks per year of service that makes a difference for me given the job market is a hot mess right now....
What if you qualify to retire? Will they let you retire and get insurance or cut you off and hand you COBRA? Basically I am concerned with waiting it out for a package VS just retire and get out. Want to get the best benefits I can.
Only COBRA if it’s the same as the last round.
As far as riding it out, do the severance packages include any health care (insurance) offerings?
Ride it out. The severance packages here are pretty generous if it comes to that.
