And yet I know it will not matter at all. When I saw yesterday who was impacted, many of them hard-working and dedicated people, I started regretting any extra effort I ever put in my work. I know that results and skills have never been a decisive factor in recent years, I’m fully aware of this fact. However, most of us do take pride in doing our work well. But when you witness layoffs, you really get angry and demotivated.

They don’t give a sh-t. I used to work 60 hour weeks so fu-k that sh-t now - what’s the point. I’m not going to sacrifice myself so uppers can make millions. Not sure why they cut a team member that produced and not the one who can never tell anyone what they’re working on and never produces.

I am one of the ones impacted. Nobody--my manager nor higher ups--ever knew exactly what I did, the ruthless efficiency with which I did it, or my ability to cross functions and teams. And I am positive I'm not the only one.
It is not just simply based on perf. Just unlucky.
