The wait is ki-ling me. Not to mention, if this stretches into January as was mentioned, I don't know how I'll be able to handle it mentally. Worrying and stressing about layoffs nonstop for months is not something anybody should be forced to do. It's unnecessarily cruel to put us through that.

Quarterly Pulse is a joke. There is no action item taken from the feedback. It is just to make employees feel like they are heard, but reality is totally different.
Their 2016 restructuring was a disaster as well. They outsourced the work, quality of work took a nose dive, there was so much resentment amongst the people whose jobs were handed over to service providers (rightly so). And a few years later Marriott hired some of the folks back as FTEs.
At some point it became all about the owners, the non stop YOY improvements , productivity, savings. The innovation talk is gone. They are a full franchise company now. The thrill is gone. It will all get worn thin and then there will be a full sale. Its just how it rolls. Goodbye Marriott.
They did this all backwards. No one has been productive all week. Entire teams getting “elimination” notices being told a very hunger games approach to jobs being posted on Thursday. I’ve hear people who have gotten the notice that have been loyal for 25+ years being told it’s “just business.” Isn’t taking care of associates supposed to be a core value? Sure doesn’t feel like it. Feels like we are just another “resource” they can toss aside.
This news is insanity.. I survived COVID and that work was BRUTAL. Doing the work of an entire org while 90% were laid off was a horrible place to be. Not to mention squeezing in a 5 day work week into 4 days... I separated from the company at the end of 2023, and surely would have gotten the can this time around, as I switched into a FLEX position. I'm angry for those close to QCC who may be at risk for losing it, all due to Tony's massive restructuring plan. Would love to see a copy of that email that was sent out..... they are not good at handing restructurings and re-orgs at all.. if anyone remembers the "waves" back from 2018, that was a TIME. Best wishes to all who have to go through this...
You should have seen what MI did to properties during Covid and in 2008. I was there for both, so I understand "no empathy and sensitivity". They say teamwork and make you drink the cool aid up until the next economic issue or downturn, then it's see you later and don't let the door hit you on the a-s on the way out. I have never been so embarrassed for the company as I was in 2008 and during covid. looks like they still haven't learned how to do layoffs with compassion.
Has anyone at a CEC gotten layoff notice yet?
This is the worst I have ever seen a reorg and layoffs handled in all my years and the different companies I have worked for. I seem to have survived but half my team, my boss, her boss have all been impacted. Those of us left can't handle the amount of work with the people we have and no direction yet on how we are supposed to move forward.
If any of us survive this and land back at Marriott, please do remember how you felt during this time and let it be known via the quarterly pulse surveys. I don't think Tony will be very well liked after this.
All above property teams are impacted including the CECs.
Has anyone heard if this at the head office level or also including CEC’s?
We should know everything by this week. They are posting new jobs on Thursday at noon Eastern. Then there will be about a week of an applications and interviews. We should know about the new roles by early December for those having to interview. The new organization will be effective January 4.
Same! I’m sorry that we’re in the situation but I’m glad to see that there are other pensively waiting the way that I am. I keep watching my work email and everything seems so quiet and weird. Maybe it’s just me.
I feel like this could have been handled better. Stringing us along without any concrete details is agonizing and doing horrible things to my mental health. I’m not sure why or how they expect us to continue working as if everything is normal. And so close to the holidays.
I absolutely hate how they are handling this. Won’t even mention doing this close to the holidays because I still can’t believe in such cruelty with the employees and their families.
I hate how the senior leadership is handling this with absolutely no empathy and sensitivity and trying to make everything seem normal. “Keep doing your job!” “Keep up with the great work!” at what cost?
