@8mrr if you manager asks you to sign off gn off on the employee handbook book, you are done. It’s a very sneaky way to get you to approve the new severance policy so you can’t fight it.

@cqd sh-t leaders in MM for sure! Not leaders though, all they do is manage people, not lead people. They grow their bank accounts while we keep getting lied to about books, commissions, and growth opportunity. RB needs to go along with AP, fing toxic duo! I can’t wait to give my 2 weeks, better yet just lay me off, I hate this pi-s poor company. What a sh-t show at the top.

As someone who was laid off last year - question your severance package. I didn't but I know two ppl that challenged it and won more

I was laid off and have taken a thorough dive through the severance and journey in HRConnect with not 1 reference to that. COBRA packet can take up to 2 weeks and unemployment is DIY asap.

My understanding is that the state is notified of these layoffs, maybe due to unemployment taxes. And my understanding is that the state is supposed to offer a state response team to help employees negotiate cobra, unemployment etc. Has anyone heard anything about his with current Staples layoff?

Why do people get kicked out so abruptly!? Like criminals. No time to collect their stuff, no time to say good bye to their co workers they worked for 15 + years? Is this the proper way to handle? This is the first time I have gone through this and it seems so wrong. Do remote people get cut first? I noticed in our department, a few people that are mostly remote or fully remote got cut. They are good performers.

Last town hall they clearly said that there were no layoffs being planned. Now we see how they lied through their teeth with smiles.

Ahhh I su-ked my own co-k thinking of everyone I let go. I flipped my legs over my head to su-k that bad boy deep. All this stress caused me to get skinny and lose tons of weight. I came in my throat and sp-t it in the face of Depot. That warm c-m never went down so I used that sweet gift and kept it going.

It’s incredible to think of how many people were cut after last August in sales, last November was huge, the Spring, some in July, and now this. That’s a failing company.

This is only the start of it. Source that has been right on during every one of these tells me store closings will escalate over the next several months, targeting stores with annual sales of $2 million and under and those not making $100k operating profit for the year. Between 300 and 500 stores estimated to be on the block. Shuffle those deck chairs, Titanic crew. More icebergs on the way.

Looks to be 130 people maybe across all staples companies.

How many were axed this time? Was it mainly retail? Was Quill or Essedant hit?

The company su-ks and has been a sinking ship for years. Those who remain think they are so important to the business. I have news , they are not and they are just a number. When they call your number, you are done!

Are they still having Town Hall today? Should be interesting to hear what lies they come up with.

Check with your state. We were able to collect unemployment while collecting severance. Job market su-ks right now. Took near 7 months to even land a pt retail job.

Got the severance package document to sign. It says severance is going to be paid weekly? Anyone has knowledge on if this affects my unemployment? I heard they are doing this so they don't have to pay for unemployment? Appreciate any insights. Definitely a tough day yesterday. Still trying to process... After all the years of hard work there...

Yes severance was given out based on tenure and pay grade.

I was let go last November and I can agree with a previous message that it’s unbelievably freeing to be out of that horrible environment. MP is the only CSO who’s never successfully sold anything and since leadership can’t manage and grow a sales organization they just continue to cut and cut and cut. I had three job offers within the first 30 days and I’m now in a job with a company that values people more than technology. The grass is definitely greener!!

I promise all who got let go today that the grass is definitely greener on the other side!! Pay will be better as well. That place is extremely toxic!! Every November it happens and it’s always telegraphed…nothing but an entire sh-t show led by an incompetent SLT which nobody has ever sold a thing in their lives. For those who are still there- wish you nothing but the best….just know the clock is ticking….

Nice that we won’t have to listen to JD much longer. Two-faced! We’re having you badge out in case of emergencies? Right!

Call out the bad mid market, Account Management, Hitouch, and LOBs. Call out the sh-t leaders and managers and hold them accountable. They had to rank you. Like cattle. Lay into them…

MM is going to be advisor to Sycamore. MW is taking over as President of USR. CFO is retiring, and other roles are being streamlined to take care of NAD and Retail like HR's SG.
