Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Trump and offshoring

Trump will be in office soon and I think his Americans first policies will help put pressure on companies to keep jobs here in the US. He is already taking aim at Caterpillar for planning to build tractors in Mexico. Let's hope he has an effect on the mega corporations who sell out Americans who keep these companies and this country running. Wishful thinking.

@3uyg+1vpqAUav -- Yes laying off product managers makes a whole lot of sense. We are acquiring people from another country where this bank is making great inroads. I mean have you seen the growth in Indian deposits?
Another delusion is that the PMs in India know far more about how digital (mobile) banking should work. Their upper castes live on their phones. They conclude that the bank's user base is going digital. Isn't it?

LOL if offshoring makes the company more money, Trump will let them do it for sure

I have been in the tech and product management roles for 20 years and yes we have offshore traditional technology jobs like development and QA but the last 2 years we started to include what have always been “onshore” positions. I lost 2 onshore product managers to displacement and had to hire 2 in India. So the whole 20 year thing is not true.

"Offshoring in the financial services has been going on for 20 years. 2009 - 2019 "

Nope, it has been going on since 2000 and earlier. I worked for a large financial services company and we sent everything tech from desktop down to mainframe to India. That completed in 2004. I heard that some if it came back, but to what extend, don't know.

I love the sky is falling mentality in these comments; gut the economy, destroy our country, create a USSR Annex, project 2025, etc.,

Sure, there is going to be chaos.

Bunch of fear mongering Betty's.

@shc+1vpqAUav this is what Ive been telling people. Its one thing to have a data leak here in the US, but in India... That will be game ending. They dont have the type of investigations to stop it. Also it would be easier for Russia to get access to our data over there.

His policies will encourage offshoring. That’s what happened during his first term. His words mean nothing.

Only complete id--ts would think TRUMP will do anything for workers. He's only pres to stay out of jail and line his pockets with loot. Thanks to the masses that voted for him thinking anything would be different from the first term. God help us.

A lot has been said both pos and neg on his tariffs. In the short and the mid-run, his presidency should bode well for virtually all Americans. I hesitate to say the long run because that is a future unknown party and administration and is too subject to the crystal ball scenario.

So we are saying government will leave service jobs outsourcing alone, and we will keep bringing in younger workers to replace me.

One day I am going to be laid off and I will remain poor until God takes me back.

He could care less just like all of the presidents. Offshoring in the financial services has been going on for 20 years. 2009 - 2019 Bank of American and JPM offshored 50,000 jobs. WF was just late to the table.

Offshoring did not start in the Biden administration. Putting pressure on companies that do so will never happen because they are the same companies fattening politician's pockets.

Yeah, all these businesses that are offshoring will stop because the guy whose clothing line is produced in China tells them offshoring is bad.

The cognitive dissonance on the right is at idiocracy levels.

The next wave for the elites is the AI empowerment of the populist MAGA movement. Elon isn't there for nothing. AI, led by JPM, is the next outsourcing destination. I&P will be A,I&P.
We are living in interesting (end?) times.

I am absolutely floored the politicians haven’t made more of a big deal about how many financial services jobs are moved to India. If not the loss of American jobs, what about the fact that financial and personal data of almost the entire country is being handled in India?!! It’s crazy. It’s not the same as making cheap shoes offshore…it’s all of our personal information.

Lol! His Bible and sneakers are "Made in China". His digital marketing team is global - with 2 contractors Mexico.
What percentage of his online shopping site can anyone believe is majority of "Made in USA"?

We have been offshoring for 20 years, but not like these 2 years. There is something going on not being reported by News.

Do you think it was a deal with India to stop BRICS from de-dollarization? And the cost was to ship our office jobs to them?

Ignore what he says. Watch what he does.
