What are your thoughts about potential BP layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Reinvent, new strategy, blah blah… Nothing will change unless someone halts placement of the inbred Business Advisor network into nearly all LT roles. They’ve infested their way into regional and site LT roles assuring that those who speak up are beaten into submission.
Technology was told we would see the new org - just boxes in Jan but I keep wondering if this is just the first round. We haven't been told it's multiple years but others have. Also heard benefits would be cut for those who stay. They keep saying we have too many contractors but that's what they say EVERY time and still I know contractors who have been here 20 years...
Surely the 'Strategy Team' has to go? Following the LT out of the door. While they are at it any one of the 'One Young World' types and generally Environmental Social and Governmental departments - just check and see if individuals are value generating or just generating hot air rather than shareholder returns....
Can they get rid of the big techies Fran brought in? Are they really worth the pay BP is handing out to them?
@2eqs+1voadOUT when are they going to eliminate the dregs in the LT? Anybody can cut costs by ditching employees. It's a no-brainer. In 2020, they cut their exploration workforce by 75%, and now needing to rehire. There us no coherent strategy in this company. It's like they throw mud at a wall over and over to see if some of it will stick. They had a great opportunity last year to bring in an outsider as CEO who could have brought in a new LT. They made a huge mistake in 2020 by not appointing Gilvary or Erginbilgic, preferring a woke candidate who was more interested in the number of cups of coffee we sell. GC is the biggest passenger in this company. Sadly, if they ever saw sense and booted her, she would get a huge payoff and walk into another highly paid post.
This was just round 1. This is a multi-year off-shoring project. Essentially— if you are in a US corp role and non-customer facing— think procurement, marketing, business ops, finance, tech— your role is being looked at to be eliminated. I have no doubt even the sales roles will be consolidated down the line. Spineless company.
@murtardoo As long as the external professionals are not from McKinsey. Those guys seem to have a stranglehold on this company. They can have GC back on a free transfer!!
What about sacking the Board of Directors, starting with HL. They're about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
Technology is going to be gutted. Just look at the VPs and think about the current org structure changes. How can a group have so many middle management and also be told they're not working with the business ?
After hundreds to thousands JUST got laid off?
Why don't we start with entire LT? Sack them and bring external professionals
Hundreds (or maybe thousands) of roles to be transferred to Pune by YE2026?
Will there be more changes in technology?
We held off on bringing BPX back to Houston. We'll make that announcement by end of Q2 in 2025. The powers that be see no reason for us to be anchored here in Denver any longer. Those at mid management level and one step above that are overpaid anyway. More downsizing to come. My advice is to leave before this process starts. Its going to a be brutal bloodbath. London figured out we don't have running room in the Permian like the former mid level managers and managers above that were bragging about.
I hate sitting in these meetings. Its painful to watch the slow train wreck.
