It's funny, before I was laid off I was promoted. Which tells me it wasn't about performance and all the extra effort I put in didn't really matter. Worked out in the end since I was given a hefty bonus/severance and found a job almost immediately after. I actually ended up getting paid more for being laid off. That's Viasat for you.
