Melbourne campus was told 4 yrs ago “new” products were being developed. I personally know 2 senior engineers and they told me, “this company hasn’t told us nothing” “ we don’t see any “new” product development.
Mexicali, Mexico has started building the products Melbourne campus produced over the last 40+ years. It’s way cheaper to build in Mexico. I was told by a Mexicali engineer that was visiting here that the product floor employees make $3.50 per hour, you read that right.🤨Then Mexicali campus ship products back to Melbourne campus for test, repair/rework if needed, top level (building the final product) then send out to customers.
Well does that make financial business sense? The real kicker is we had to “train” Mexicali employees to do our jobs over the last 3.5 yrs. which was very annoying, then take it back to Mexico!!!
In a monthly meeting a question was asked about the new administration is going to put tariffs on Collins products being shipped back to the United States. Technically they are “built” in the USA. The answer was “well we don’t know exactly what the new administration is going to do, we will have to wait and see”🤯
There is a hiring freeze, robots have replaced some material handlers jobs. Budget cuts galore. IMO layoffs are coming, I can feel it, it’s in the air.

Melbourne Fl. Collins has lost there minds! Micromanaging on steroids. It’s getting out of hand. We get our name written down if we’re late for the 6 AM meeting. Even if you’re a minute late, they’ve been treating us like children and I’m over it! Layoffs sounds good.
