Cigna Medicare to HCSC thread - "Openly Discuss"

This is a space created for the thousands of Cigna Medicare employees who are transitioning to HCSC. Speak your mind or ask questions about this situation outside a company censored environment.

It's happening! We have to accept it and say goodbye to Cigna. We also have to openly discuss and learn what's next.

They reviewed the benefits with us and they do have a pension.

Unsure where the HCSC pension information has come from. HCSC did away with pension and started 401K instead in 1997

I am an Express Scripts/Cigna employee and returned last week. I had been on FMLA and Caregiver leave for 3 months caring for my husband during that period of time my supervisor changed as well as my manager both who I am not fond of. During my leave my husband passed away it will be one month tomorrow and I'm still not with it mentally.
While reading my past e-mails I noticed many changes my supervisor never mentioned any of this to me, they should be helping you not hindering you. So Friday I checked my status in workday it showed 0 days of PTO. I am just wondering as the PBM for many medicare and commercial plans it seems to me that I will also be effected by this. I feel they are setting me up to fail so I will leave on my own. I have been through several mergers and have been with the company 16 years, Also my PTO has been reduced. I have had it with everything. They give us more work for less pay!!!!!

If you are Cigna Medicare employee who so happens to have Cigna FSA, You better use it up ASAP. Buy whatever you can that qualifies for a FSA and submit for reimbursement before its too late,

Every week that the deal doesn’t close increases the risk that the deal doesn’t close at all. The reality is that Cigna’s MA business is broken, suffers from incompetent leadership, and is losing money. Yes, HCSC can try and fix it. However the real question is whether or not Cigna misrepresented the financial position of this segment when they agreed upon the sale price. Meanwhile Cigna continues to bleed competent talent. If you are focused on advancing your career, this is not something you want to be caught up in.

So what's the hold up? I thought this was going to happen already. My family and I can't continue pretend like we are not going to switch health insurance plans due to conveying to HCSC. I kept hearing it would happen this week, but then we get e-mails telling us pending regulatory stuff. We got doctor appointments lined up that need to be scheduled, but we can't until we convey.

Rumor has it all Cigna staff will be defaulted to “customer service rep I” roles.

Anyone else hear different?

Any news as to when we will convey to HCSC? I am so over Cigna and just want to get this done already.

Cigna, along with many other companies are known to post ghost jobs. these are jobs they do not intend to fill. They just post them to make it look like they are growing while wasting applicants time. With Medicare going to HCSC, its a mystery as to why they are still posting jobs. Personally I have seen more and more Cigna Medicare staff leave recently and no one is hired to replace them. They just divide up work and reassign it.

Why are there so many Medicare jobs posted on the Cigna job site when they are selling it off?

Any details as to when our PTO will be paid out due going to HCSC? I remember hearing our Cigna PTO is supposed to be zero'd out and paid at the start of the new year.

I hear that yes, our Cigna job titles may change to align with HCSC job titles. Most of the expectation of our current role won't change, but they may in the future.

I wonder if pay will change too to align with HCSC. For my specific role, I can search on glassdoor website for current similar roles at HCSC, and according to that site, I am underpaid by a few thousand.

What's the latest status on when we can expect us to transition over to HCSC? I remember hearing a few weeks ago it would be by mid-February. However, during our last large meeting, it seems like it might be a sooner.

I read that as long as you did NOT sign a “non compete” agreement that you can apply back to Cigna after the sale is finalized. Is this true? Will HCSC have something that prevents this?

I'm tired of talking and hearing about it. I just want it to be over with. So many projects are on hold pending this sale.

Did I hear it correctly that if your compensation isn’t the same that you have to wait until December 2025 to be “made whole” with a one time bonus? So you will experience lesser compensation for the entire year and only get it back if you stay until December?

Is that correct?

Yeah, had I known about these benefits and pay details sooner, I would have started to look for employment elsewhere. I guess better late than never, but I didn't sign up for this. The only slightly good thing HCSC has is a barely functioning pension. I always thought Blue Plans had good benefits. I guess I was wrong.

I completely fail to see how any of this is favorable to us. The more info that comes out, the worse shape we’ll be in. It doesn’t add up at all. Even my copays for prescription and primary care will double. Gonna be real curious how they manipulate the numbers on our offer/compensation letters to make it look like this is no less favorable than what we have at Cigna. It’s just not adding up. Less vacation days, less 401k match, premiums, copays, etc. Surely I’m not the only one feeling this.?

It feels like the more closer we get to this divesture, the more benefit information is coming out that is unfavorable for us Cigna Medicare employees transitioning over.

I heard that at HCSC our salaries are only guaranteed 12 months. So does that mean our 3.5% raise could be worthless? I heard our bonus will be paid in January instead.

I am also hearing rumblings about how upcoming merits and bonus will be "basic". It doesn't matter how well of a performer you are, Cigna will figure out a way to scr3w you over.

The Transition FAQs include this question
How will my annual cash bonus be calculated?
The answer says your bonus will be determined and paid under the terms of the Cigna bonus plan that applies to you. And that the 2024 bonus will be paid by Cigna in quarter one if the deal closes before the annual bonus cycle.

The minute no bonuses is confirmed choas will break out over all MA. Why work as hard if they take away what we earned. Worked hard for a bonus but to be told it’s gone. Real smart move to tank performance

Wondering if any other teams transitioning were told that we will not be getting our bonus after all. If come March, we’re not Cigna employees, we will be getting nothing. That’s not what we have been told up until now. Guess we will get a 3.5% merit increase (are they trying to make us feel better).? We should get the bonus.

Reply to: Am I ok to apply to a role with the MA team ? Saw something online. Would it be a rocky ride given the spin off , HCSC buying etc ?

I say yes, go for it. If you are looking for a way out of Cigna, jumping to Cigna MA might be a good idea. We are all transitioning to HCSC within a few months so you get the satisfaction of saying goodbye to Cigna.

Cigna MA employees are not allowed to apply outside of Cigna MA, but Cigna employees are allowed to apply to Cigna MA.

HCSC is required 3 days in office. They heavily track it and have policies in place for non compliance. You will see many threads about it on the Hcsc layoff page.

So did Medicare Employees get laid off recently? I thought DeRosa said there would be no layoffs "JE's" as we had to remain head count neutral due to the HCSC divesture.

Cigna is getting rid of its problem and buying a new one. Instead of Cigna firing everyone in MA again like they did in 2021 because of poor audits and management… they’re just selling them off. There’s no better way a company can tell you that you’re a worthless employee besides terminating everyone and then buying a different MA company. If they valued anyone this wouldn’t have been done this way.

It’s laughable because MA managers su-k and think their sh-t doesn’t stink. They’ll find out soon what it’s like to be the underdog. I believe in karma.
