Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

2H2024 PDC results

The PDC for FE and OPs is over. What a joke! People being put in the wrong job (being shortlisted for jobs they are not qualified for while not being shorlisted for jobs which they are). There are more must moves & priority moves than there are jobs available and 1H2025 PDC is expected to be worse (with FGP ramping down, 1-2 projects available, and offshoring of jobs). Very little to no transparency, just jobs for pals. AI could do a better, faster, fairer, cheaper job placement than all those PSG 26-28 folks attending the PDC.

Icing on the cake: This PDC has selected UK expats to the US. How on earth does that make sense, when US jobs are being cut to bring expats to a job that can easily be filled by anyone else in the US. I get UK folks are stranded payroll since CVX is selling all assests of UK, but surely there are other companies to work for in the UK, why keep these folks around?

The big pi ture is that there will be many let go in coming months, about 30%, for now they are just trying to keep whatever they can at where ever they can and no backfill for anyone who retires, leaves or get a job on PDC. Obviously some of you are angry, but the grand scheme of things, the number of people who are being treated (per your opinion) unfairly is not that significant. We should all worry about our jobs in 2025 and 2026 where mass lay off is going to happen

The British mafia has always been strong in the company, even before the day so of O'Reilly and Robertson. They look out for each other and place as many Brits in jobs as they can, arguing they are better qualified and trying to humiliate their hapless American counterparts.

A Brit base salary is around 70% of US (depending on forex). By the time you add 10% premium, HUE and GSS allowance it is about equivalent to US. However, the kicker is they are entitled to send kids to private school at 30K per, which for some reason CVX is still paying for in the US. Then there is the cost of visas, trips home etc. and what is the long term strategic value of keeping this going?

If you really wanted to go cheaper and more qualified and less risk, you could hire a green badge contractor to do the job.

Possibly the Brit is better qualified and even with uplifts will be cheaper for same psg.

It appears as if the PDC is sending a message to those in FE to start looking elsewhere as positions in US are no longer staffed for US Payroll. The writing is on the wall to move as much business as possible outside the US in the next 5-10 years. Looking for smaller and more stable energy companies committed to keeping Americans in US jobs is the type of company you want to apply to. Very disappointing.

What would the relevant agency be to report CVX for bringing in foreign workers for jobs Americans within their own country are qualified to fill?
