I would be happy to be laid off before the end of the year. I’ll take my severance, thank you, and run for a better place.

Announce away. Everyone knows USB is no longer the ethical company is used to be, what's the harm is saying they hope to be laid off and get severance? Take what you can get and run far away from this nasty place.
You can ask for a package.
lol if you hate things so much why not just get a new job? These types of posts are so corny.
I will be happy for you to get laid off so you can take your severance and run to a better job, thank you. For the rest of you who hope to get laid off, I hope your wish comes true. Maybe that means I get to keep my job in this dump until I can find a better one in this job market. I won't be getting the nice severance. I am doing what my father advised me to do when I whined about my stressful job. It involved “sh” or “get off the pot.” So, I am actively looking for something better while taking classes to increase my chances. It may take a while, but I will do it. I come on this site for news about layoffs. Sometimes I see other useful posts, but for the most part it is the same old stuff. I generally skip over anything like this. Maybe it helps you feel better, but you are not sharing anything we don't already know.
I bartended in college so I got a weekend side gig to save money. My wife does Uber in the morning on her way to work and back. She also does some Uber on the weekends when the kids activities don’t get in the way. If I were in tech I would be doing everything I can to learn AI. I am not in tech, so I try to learn as much as I can from co-workers, and trust me, some are very stingy about sharing knowledge, and hope that some of it helps my resume.
I think he/she is trying to articulate what has been articulated over and over again. We get it! That this company has poor leadership, that the stress is over the roof, constant worry about layoffs, and he/she will be getting a big fat severance when they get laid off. We know!!! I know they deserve it. But no one has answers except to quiet quit or run for our lives. Where do we run to? The job market stinks. If we say we like our job and manager we are called bootlickers. What should we do? Revolt? Some of you have gone to the media, reported to WARN, what are the results of that? I like my job, is that OK? I would rather stay here. It is stressful knowing you can get laid off, but I must think rationally. Until the job market opens up, I am here, and who knows if any new job would not have the same stressors. My wife works for another big bank, and they are also laying off right and left. We have kids, a mortgage, student loans. Maybe these older and wiser men and women could have some helpful insights instead of bragging about how they are praying to get laid off so they can enjoy their big severance and find their dream job.
I think he is trying to articulate is it’s extremely stressful with more work and pressure and now more than ever the lack of a strong Leadership at the top makes it worse for those not laid off.
It’s like a ticking clock, you never know when your time is up.
Being laid off is the absolute worse feeling in the world, this leadership has made it hellish and unbearable to stay positive .
Definitely don't take matters into your own hands...just wait...and complain
OP is right. I come on this site to find out about layoffs. I don’t like the direction this company is going either, but I also like my job and would not have an easy time finding another job. I guess the poster has been with the company long enough to have earned a nice severance and is in a line of work that the job market is wide open. I am scared of getting laid off. ALL big banks are the same, so forget staying in banking. I should have become a plumber like my dad who retired early. Maybe some words of advice on finding a better job and what is someone’s best bet in the job market would be nice to see posted.
What do you hope to accomplish by announcing that you would be thrilled to death to get laid off? You sound smug and your remarks are a slap in the face of those of us who would not have that luxury. If you have a wonderful severance and money to spare, you can have a big party after you are laid off and invite all your friends, family and the poor slobs who were laid off with you and cannot celebrate. Some of us have not worked here for years and years and have the big pay grade. I would not get much severance and I have only been able to save enough money to last another two months. I have been trying to find another job since June. At first I was looking for fully remote and there is nothing out. So, I quickly changed course and am looking for hybrid also. I have done everything right as far my resume, networking, etc. I have cut back expenses as much as I can to save money. I have been interviewed twice, ghosted many times. I like my job here, except for RTO, but I have a bad feeling that I will be laid off soon. I have kids to feed. So, go ahead and be happy about getting laid off. A lot of us would not be celebrating if it would happen to us, so I for one, don't want to hear about it.
You don’t need to announce it on here.
