Thread regarding CDW layoffs

After CEO's State of the Company I'm starting to apply to other companies

Still no plan, just difficult market conditions and she honestly looked nervous.
It's time to look out for my family and I. I'll be updating my resume this weekend and applying to 2-4 roles day.
Not looking to get blindsided EOY or Q1.

Good idea to start dipping your toes to get a feel for the job market and gets you the opportunity to hopefully talk to recruiters. Mind you with it being near year end in mid-Q4 you may not get any hits this year. End of Jan is when you’ll start seeing more/new positions posted.

It also gives you the chance to refine/enhance your resume as go thru the early stages of a job hunt. I went through a few iterations before I was happy with mine’s and it’s good to also get feedback on it.

Yes look out for yourself! I was a former President’s Club winner but was part of the layoff.

It was sad to hear after the 2023 and early 2024 layoffs that some folks brushed it off as trimming the underperformers - almost sounded glad it happened for the better of the company. Little did they realize the sh-tshow was already underway — the phased decline quarter after quarter. I saw good people quit earlier this year, couldn’t handle the chaos and disorganization then followed by more quitting throughout this year including just recently.

The disorganization, poor integration planning and implementation was just unbelievable.

Yes as many others have reported earlier here they’re getting their resumes ready…this latest layoff was a wake up call for many. It’s not just because of sales/business performance but experiencing the slow decay of leadership and sh-tshow of how they’re operating everything.

Another soft Q4 and new year Q1 and looking at another April RIF. Meanwhile CDW continues to put on the feel-good happy-face sponsoring events and commercials for televised games.

No need to super rush things but take some time to update and polish your resume - it’s a good time to prepare for the new year.

"Does Leahy even connect with the employees on the front lines to understand what would help them be more efficient and productive? That’s Leadership 101. The speech was condescending at best, and sending more departments overseas isn’t likely to solve the real challenges. It’ll only create gaps in support for colleagues who need answers for their customers. Integrity is lost in this leadership approach."

  • My Director doesn't even do that. Where do you think she learned her "leadership" techniques?

Leahy emphasizes “Execute with excellence” and “We own our results”—but do we? I’m all in for change, 100%. Yet in challenging times, true leadership should focus on refining the operating model rather than pointing fingers at the market or elections. I’d like to see what “owning results” really looks like beyond simply cutting jobs to balance the books.

Mr. Krasny understood and valued his employees; Leahy seems out of touch with anyone who doesn’t serve her interests—a stark contrast to effective leadership. How can we be expected to stay motivated and bring our best when the ground feels shaky year after year? This approach feels more like a cycle of disruption than a strategy for growth.

Here is a harsh reality. CDW used to be known in the market to pay the least, but now stuck with the unfortunate reputation of mediocre coworkers who are paid above market as the market has shifted. The way to give yourself a raise in the market is to sharpen your skills and be able to demonstrate them. If you are just looking to move, CDW will not be good for your resume and you will likely take a pay cut. CDW is a great place to sharpen your skills as there is a lot of training available. But just moving or looking for a new job, don't expect a higher offer and please don't shoot the messenger.

Best of luck out there. I've been looking for about a year after getting sc--wed last year. Salaries have gone down, and many of the roles posted online are ghost jobs. It's rough out there.

At this point she is saying the same stuff over and over.

As a company we have heard less and less from Chris too and more from direct management on things that would usually come from the top. Things are not being standardized across the company and it is more silo'd now than ever.
