Severance

Has anyone lost out on severance by some technicality? I’ll be expecting mine in a couple weeks & I am stressed that WF will somehow not pay me.

Yes, if they had waited two more weeks to lay me off they would have had to to pay me one extra pay period of severance. They kept me on working on projects (that I was actively engaged in and doing actual real work on) up until 13 days before my 7 year anniversary. There was no reason to drop me mid-project and not let me stay on two more weeks to continue to contribute and reach my 7 year anniversary. I was also one of the ones given an unexpected poor annual review (inconsistently meets expectations) even though I was performing very well on my team. It was very sc-mmy overall. I'm glad to be gone.

I know of several people who have lost the entire package by taking other employment during their 60 day notice period— and it is their own fault because the severance packet clearly states this is not allowed. As long as you sign the agreement and follow the rules you’ll be ok.

Your severance agreement is a contract You can sue if not honored.

Laid off last year with 60 days and nearly 10 months of severance. No issues but there was an extra week gap between when the notice checks end and the severance checks began. That was a bit of a worry but they flowed like clockwork after that. Just don't accept any jobs in the notice period or go ape sh*t on them on social media. 😂

There might be a week or so lag which is what I experienced but it will be OK. I know it's really hard to trust anything WF says ...

I believe the most important thing is to return all of your WF equipment quickly. It seems like a big deal. I returned mine via UPS the second day I was off work, and have had no issues with my severance pay. Good luck!
