Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Still hiring

In the midst of laying people off, we're hiring more folks. Doesn't that negate the supposed cost cut the layoffs are meant to provide? Not to mention that it adds insult to injury to long-time employees who've been shown the door as they learn others are being brought in to replace them immediately.

I had heard that they were getting rid of those of us with pensions (can someone confirm new hires do not qualify for pensions?) and those in high cost of living states (for example, CA where not only are the salaries higher but the cost of benefits). As for replacing us with inexperienced workers, they don’t care. They want the cases completed, they don’t care if they are cr-p and that they impact real people. I really want to ask Jodi, “Will USB be removing We Put People First from the core values?” I wasn’t in this most recent round but I’m nervous that I’ll be in the next. They say there won’t be more but why would we trust anything they say?

It’s so frustrating and a slap in the face for sure. I wish they had never hired me. So… many… promises.

Rise above!

Customer Due Diligence Org had their monthly meeting yesterday advertising 3 periodic review analyst positions, 2 grade 10, 1 grade 11 for AZ and MN. They laid off 2 grade 10, 1 grade 11, and 1 grade 12 from WA. It's disgusting to watch your coworkers laid off for an accounting trick. Their last day in Nov 15th and it had to be such a slap in the face.

Not sure what good that would do considering only people within a specific 5 hub locations are eligible for employment with USB these days.

You can bet that anyone they are hiring now is getting a much lower salary that anyone who was previously employed.

During my time with the company, I consistently excelled as a top-performing leader, meeting or exceeding my goals year over year for eight consecutive years—including over-achieving even through the challenges of the pandemic. However, when my peers and I were laid off, we were replaced by two individuals with no experience in our business line, no prior leadership experience, and limited understanding of the role’s demands.

The decision stemmed from a new senior leader who, unfortunately, prioritized others’ opinions over managing her team effectively. Today, that team is among the organization’s lowest-performing, hindered by a lack of leadership and essential support.

Get out while you can. This ship is starting to sink faster than anyone anticipated.

Are they rehiring in the same orgs or just shifting resources? Most large companies layoff in some area that aren’t as busy and hire up in others. It’s a constant state of flux unfortunately. Although downgrading jobs it definitely a tactic too, saves money on people that have been in role a long time

As a hiring manager, our dept specifically asks HR to show us laid off candidates first.

They are still hiring and underpaying people. They are getting rid of talent to replace it with less talent and lower pay. That’s the game.
