Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Any update on severance for Clinton employees?

Has anyone heard anything yet about the NJ WARN ACT severance program for "laid off" employees that do not relocate to Houston? I keep getting told there will be information in early 2025 but someone must know more by now.

Ignore people who say things like, “Dream on” call you naive, or say, “it’s not a layoff, you were offered a job”. These people haven’t taken the time to read the legislation. While I’m sure Exxon labor lawyers will do their best to find a loophole, it seems a decent possibility that the conditions of the Clinton consolidation will meet the threshold of the NJ WARN act. The fact that there has been no comment from the corporation on this would seem to support this. If you leave on your own, they don’t need to pay out. What wave 1 should be asking at this point is the legality of the company requiring disclosure of your intent to move to Houston (or not) 3 months in advance of your effective date.

There is no rush. They will wait it out so folks get frustrated and leave. Smart if you own the gold. There are better jobs out there really.

As far as I understand from the link below, you get 1 week per YoE

People who have DEMONSTRATED mobility should be rewarded with better opportunities and better pay than those unwilling to move or travel frequently.

OP you're an innocent child I see. ExxonMobil doesn't lay off people. If you don't show up in Houston you'll be NSIed. You'll be given the choice to take the PIL, that is you resign your position on your own will for a three month paycheck, or the PIP which you won't pass. You'll have to leave because of unacceptably low performance. One way or the other you won't get any severance package. Good luck.

BTW who many people from Annandale are coming to Houston? Any idea? Management keeps saying that 70% will come. What's the word over there?

Corp cannot multi task any of this divestment or pioneer/denbury actions. I’m sure the pds has something to do with it but not sure how to break it down. Maybe the powers at be know they have a guaranteed pds but not in a hurry. The issue with that is folks lives are affected.

Why are people on here so out to hate on each other? There's this mentality that 'I suffered therefore everyone else should too.'
And if some group of employees gets something good for once , why the need to hate on them?

Management sc--ws us enough as it is.

@lhc+1vfKFfw4 depends on the wording of the law. In Canada, for example, if you are offered a role outside reasonable commuting distance of your current role and you decline the move, that is not considered to be declining employment and you should still receive severance.

Dream on. Move or leave like the rest of us. Why should you be paid to not move! Many of us have uprooted our families constantly for this company. I’m sick of you Houston and Clinton people never making the sacrifices the rest of us make.

There's no layoff. They offered you a job down there (no matter how cr-ppy it is). You choose not to move and not to take the job. It's on you. They didn't lay you off. Got it? That's how they play the game.

As for the technicians, since no position was offered, it will be up to how the 2022 contract was worded.

NJ WARN act states 1 weeks pay for every completed year will be given as severance pay. Chances are if you sign an agreement to not publicly bash the company or give out trade secrets, they may double it. But NJ State law is 1 week per completed year.
