I’m just hanging around for the severance at this point. I can’t wait to get out of here. The sooner the layoffs come, the better. It’s pretty much the only thing keeping me from leaving right now. This is nowhere near the same Chevron I joined over a decade ago.

Severance packages, if you don’t apply/relocate to Houston, are not going to happen. During the town hall in August, the effervescent (ha!) MG made that crystal clear. I’m sure she was more than happy to begin the process when she started at CVX. Missing RM, who appeared to be more human than the new HR.
Seeing your comment reminds me of the unsettling changes and uncertain atmosphere that many are experiencing in the tech industry. I keep seeing comments that the severance packages aren’t going to be the same as in the past. However, if the company starts targeting cuts at higher cost employees (PSG 23, 34, 25, 26) and those correlate with 50+ year olds, there’s going to have to be some severance or they’re going to be exposed to lawsuits, right?
Severance for relocation was only offered during mergers, not normal office moves. With the HESS deal fading away it will be difficult. At least they offer relo assistance - they didn’t always!
The Company’s message is simple: there is a paycheck waiting for you in Houston, probably with relocation assistance.. If one chooses not to go there, that’s a personal choice and so no severance.
I feel for you. So glad I left in 2020 after 30+ years.
Chevron in the past would provide an option for either severance or relocation, but now they seem to be saying if you don’t move they’ll accept it as a resignation, hence no severance. It seems a bit underhanded of them and rather disappointing.
I wouldn't hold my breath on severence packages. Been though this several times and this time feel different than others. I think they will see who doesn't move from San Ramon before they start the deeper cuts and how ENGINE will impact everything.
You're no orphan.
