Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Big brother is watching. Be careful on company computers and phones.

I don't care if you don't believe or heed this warning. I was told by a IT person that my computer use was being monitored. This person told me which sites I was visiting and my search history. They IT were closely monitoring a person of interest that had a big safety incident. IT was instructed to go through and try to get evidence that could be used to fire said employee. They also monitor company cell phone usage. IT also said they watch the data going through the wifi. Change your cell phone name make sure it does not have any distinguishing marks. IT told me there was an employee that had the phone name as their first and last initial. IT has a nu-e tone filter that looks for percentage skin tone per area on screen . One of my friends was called into the supervisor's office because they thought they were looking at na--d persons. It turned out to be an ad with a model showing lots of leg. My friend was on the special watch list. I don't use my company computer for anything but email and dealing with useless countless forms and training. I use my personal cell phone or home computer to search for technical information. I do not take my computer home because if I lose it or it gets stolen my world will be s hit.

Be careful using your own device on the free WiFi, it’s monitored.

You’ve been warned

For all the people who were born yesterday or recently arrived here from a different planet:

Employers have always monitored what you do on their devices. This is not some profound revelation. It’s a basic fact of white collar employment. Don’t use your work devices for personal communications (ex. air dropping pics of your junk to your side-piece), and you shouldn’t have any issues.

Merry Christmas

As I said it is just a warning you don't have to heed it. I was just shocked at the level of detail IT had on employees. Yes work hard and you will get a raise or not get piped. Yes just work and everything will be fine. Yes grand master we will do your biding without question. We will be good little proles and bow to the rulers. Things are changing employees are getting tired and fed-up. Anyway believe if you want or not.

You should just always assume you're being watched on company assets. That's at any company. Duh

It is common knowledge that IT is watching. What makes it special for some employees is the fact that exxon wants to rid themselves of certain individuals. These special employees are closely monitored. If you are one of these be extra careful. I am very paranoid and cautious. At another company I was at a old co worker kept forwarding inappropriate emails to me. Even though I did not open any of them I was called in to explain. The company installed software to block this sort of thing. Exxon has software to block this as well.
