Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Any rumors about layoffs before year’s end?

It would be great to have nice holidays. I don’t care about what will come after. I accepted the fact that we’ll probably have a bad next year, and I’ve already started looking into other options. I just want to have a decent holiday season this one time.

"Regarding the people saying layoffs up to 12/31 including notifying via text, is there anyone who can confirm? Would the company really be that heartless? If nothing else, seems like it opens the door to extremely bad PR."

  • Um, it was a troll post. Like most of the posts in this thread. And most of the posts on this site.

Yeah, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday AND Christmas. So if you could be here around 9 that would be great.

It's just a job. Enjoy the holidays instead of thinking about stuff you have no control over ...

I was in the November 15 layoff cohort. My bonus was prorated for the 10 full months worked from 1/1/2024 to 10/31/2024. In other words, they paid 83.33% of a full bonus.

Read up on the severance plan document in the My Total Rewards section of the internal website. It spells out how they approach things.

Did you get paid out a bonus for when you were laid off? Was it prorated or did you get the full amount for working from 1/1/23 to 12/31/23?

Oh and if you don't sign your severance package before 12/31 you forfeit it. Doesn't matter if you're on vacation and don't even know, you still lose it too bad so sad.

I think there's a goal of firing 1600 people before end of 2024 so they're doing 100 every day until NY Eve.

Is it true that a large number of people are getting laid off on 12/31 so that they won't get bonus and 401K match next year? I heard this is happening and that something like 950 people will be impacted. I think the notification date will be 12/31 effective immediately.

I heard hundreds of people are getting terminated by text message on Christmas Eve.

Conducting layoffs when there are only about two weeks left in the year is trifling. I expect the layoffs to ramp up again in January/February. I haven't heard any whisper of layoffs from now until Dec. 31st.
