Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

It's a power trip

I work in an area where we are literally treated as interns or better yet less than interns. Despite having more experience and more technical than those above us.

I literally had a supervisor tell me that I was going to take vacation and what days I was going to take before the year end. I have the time, as I've barely taken any personal time this year. I have a family, raised my kids, served my country and yet I'm treated as if I can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

I refuse to be micro-managed or treated as if I am an indentured servant. He can tell me to take vacation and when to take it all he wants. But that is one area where him or the individual above him lacks the ability to control my life. I won't say anything, but will simply refuse to put in the request for the time, because I refuse to let him have that control over me.

Everyday I have to bend a knee, eat humble pie so someone else can feel better about themselves. That's over and done with.

You didn't use your PTO all year and now you just don't want to use it? This isn't the win you think it is. By not using your PTO which is part of your compensation package you are, in fact, working for free.

Not talking PTO and working for free are two different things. Particularly if you are Exempt (Salary). Fascinating and uninformed.

So you're gonna work for free instead of just taking PTO which doesn't carry over? Fascinating.

These people hired me under the pretense that I would be doing something different that what I have been doing. They've continued with the gas-lighting, manipulation and broken promises to keep me bound to a role that served to validate their position within the company.

True, I do receive a paycheck and have no complaint about the pay. But for that, I've had to give up so much more. Such as my self-esteem, ability to increase my skill-sets and further my career in (MY) chosen area of interest.

Everyday I'm treated less than desirable and discredited by dishonest individuals. I've gone from being a clear thinker and highly motivated individual to someone who is deeply depressed to the point I've had to start taking medications, and someone who just wants to do my job with the least interaction with other individuals as possible.

They have micro-managed me to the point that I'm all used up. Therefore, I will not allow them to exert control by dictating that "I will" take PTO. That is one area where I will not give in, as I am not required to.

Before some cu----t makes the statement, "Go find another job" Easier said than done, depending on one's location, age, etc.

They can’t tell you when to use your paid time off unless you’re on an account and it lines up with the client’s time off.

Ok but take some vacation. You've earned it.
