Does anyone have any insight into the purchased service layoffs ... like why? I was told its happening everywhere, at least in North America. Seems like a petty move right before Christmas that won't really save the company that much money if they're all actively engaged in productive work. We lost quite a few people in our department for the rest of the year.

This has happened the last 3 years, it’s a quick budget expense to try and make year end look better. PS talent can be good, it’s just so hard to add headcount t at Ford that PS is the only way to increase the resources in your team. So many games around this, it’s ridiculous.
GTC is full of purchased service people that were laid off for the rest of the year, so we were told anyway.
Purchased service employees are a waste of company's money. This is a loophole that Ford does not know about for many years. It's not showing as a headcount, do HR does not know about them. Millions of dollars are being spent on PS and it's part of the program funding that managers just use it to show that they have resources in place. No real work has ever been completed and the agency folks are making 6 figure income for doing nothing.
I never used purchased services if there was any way to avoid it. The return was miniscule compared to contract people. The cost was way too high and the the talent you got was pretty sorry.
Ford employee's will be targeted at the first quarter 2025. Ford is presently setting up people they will keep and the ones will let go all based on if you're in good with your LL5, LL6 and supervisor. Not based on merit.
If someone accepts a job as PS at Ford, they are naive if they don’t realize they can be let go anytime.

Cost cutting. I know a few purchased service people getting moved to agency and a new house. Also know of at least 1 green card holder getting sc--wed by their recruiter and Ford. Unfortunately they are one of the ones you want around.
Oh it’s happening in every dept, customer service, wholesale, VL, Total Loss, etc. and people are not on vacation.
