Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

I wish to be laid off first next RIF

I’ve been here for too long. Became complacent. Habit and fear of failure have prevented me from looking for other opportunities. I’ve been unhappy for a long time now, and I’m reaching a point of being completely burnt out. I can barely drag myself to work every morning. Working here really can su-k the life out of you.

No job is worth that. You should put your two weeks in and find something else. It’s not good for the soul

I'm shopping right now. Hoping to volunteer for a RIF next year. Total lack of confidence in Senior Leadership. It's sad, because there's a lot of good people and good talent when you get down to 3rd and 4th level leaders.

Next RIF notices for Carelon BH coming late January 2025, with last day of work late February 2025. No doubt there won’t be much of a bonus for anyone this year, they need to save that money to be sure those at the top get new yachts. Profits over people.

I was in Carelon and was RIF'd. At first I was relieved and happy to be out. Then I was unhappy because I applied to many jobs with no response and it was scary. Then I did get a job outside of healthcare (Hooray) and now I am happy with my new job, glad to be out of health insurance and glad that I am away from Carelon. It was a total emotional rollercoaster.

Let go, and let God. Trust God will see you through. Revenge is mine says the Lord.

I have heard that if you are Riffed and eligible for retirement, you collect severance first, then retirement kicks in.

I’m amazed by comments who tell people that wished to be riffed that those people don’t actually want to riffed. How would you know? Can’t stand people who give unsolicited adobe or try and shove their opinions down other people’s throats. I think if a person says they want to be rigged then that must be what they want.

When you volunteered for retirement, did they include a 6 months severance package, or just let you retire? What was the perk of retirement vs being RIF'd, which includes a severance package (for now)?

Look, watch what you wish for. I was with the company 40 years. I did volunteer, but I was ready, mentally and financially. I was ready to retire and did not have to worry about gettingback into the job market. It is hard. Whatever you do I recommend not applying back at Anthem. There are many fields you can go into with the knowledge base you have.. make sure you have your ' ducks in a row' before you make that decision.

People who wish for RIFs need to read previous posts from people who were actually Riffed. The job market is NOT good right now and people are really struggling. My suggestion is to continue to look for the right job while you still have your current job.

While it's noble to offer yourself up, it just won't happen. If a teammate makes more than you do, they'll get the axe before you. It's a simple numbers game and they don't care whether or not you like it.

Let your boss know. You’ll likely be saving your co-workers’ jobs by volunteering to be next and you’ll get a decent severance.

I don’t know if I can survive till the next RIF. I volunteer to go first! Even if we are, do we have to work another 2-3 months and deal with the BS till the final day? Don’t think I can bare anymore dealing with these dictators.
