If you have not read this 1997 book, you should. Andy Grove does not necessarily look so good, however.

Intel owes its success to IBM and Microsoft.
If history went another way say Motorola, then Motorola would become Intel.
Whomever got the ISA software lock was going to be the winner no matter what.
@olt : Andy comes off as a rather mean demanding control freak, and a bit less as a visionary.
It may be just that Intel was lucky and now its luck is running out.
Yes that was a great book! Read it back in 2001 when I first joined Intel. Still have a copy of it on my bookshelf.
I recall Andy did come off as a bit crazy...or should I say paranoid.
