SASBU Opex will continue to rise as the upcoming fleet sourcing is likely to see most vessel rates double and any new service contract has rates going up too. The service markets are hot and pricey.

As a last resort, the quickest and easiest way to cut costs is people.

SASBU proved during covid you don't need many people in Luanda but current management has forgot that lesson.

SASBU needs to cut the entire AD team. For a group that can't find the next factory project and basically setup the next 5yrs to not have a new facility it is time to clean house. Also, go ahead and cut anyone involved with Lifua and Malongo West well design, completion design, and ESP selection as they are directly responsible for ki-ling the entire factory program.

Anytime they tell nationals there will be reductions in personnel and EOI (happened this week in town hall), you can expect expats also proportionally reduced. This is logical since it is bad optics to move lay-off locals and leave expats untouched (despite productivity differences).

No new factory project besides what is already in flight…

Word (enterprise-wide) is anything that is not part of day to day ops (eg FE or ops support) should not be expat and definitely not rotational expat, but should be supported remotely (eg houston or the new location) with business trips as needed. This is the legacy Noble model being done by EMED and NMA now

Same with locals, reducing rotational jobs with business trips as needed.

Same thing happening in TCO in 2025. A badge audit found thr the average non production ops person went to site less than 1 time per 28 day rotation. Obviously you can move those jobs residenctial. I expect similar with Molongo

SASBU had already made some cuts so I'm sure it'll be minimal if so, also consider the announcement about the 2 new blocks a few months back. Either way, it's about job preservation so do what you have to do including preparing for the worst.

When did they announce this? I must be in another planet because I never heard anything. Not even the typical expat rant

Nobody is safe. SASBU is in huge cost cutting mode. GM told everyone there will be cuts so best way to prepare is to update your CV.
