Most bosses are reasonable. Some people offer some flexibility when you are away or needing to be home an extra day due to last minute emergencies and such. If you are generally a good employee doing your job well you will almost for sure have some flexibility. But if you really are not doing your job well and also not generally being on the office three days a week then who is to blame for that?

You wouldn't just get a 1st time notice from HR to get fired for not adhering to the in-office policy. You would have been given repeated warnings OR you literally don't come in but once a quarter.

Did you get a warning prior to the meeting?
Did you not go to the office? You said three full days a week?
So what were you doing for office time? How many days a week and how many hours?

They fired me because I wasn't doing 3 full days in the office every week.
