Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

At least we got rid of people we actually need

All the good ones were let go. I guess being competent, skilled and good at your job is a bad thing these days. The message is clear: just do bare minimum and you’ll be fine.

Ditto here. I wore many hats. Managed, was hands on, in front of customers/partners…. Espousing the KoolAid. Not sure if it was the longevity or salary…. Was not the spiffs! But I was a chosen one, and off the books. Was a good learning experience being at Avaya.

Yup. I was laid off so full disclosure there's some bias here, but I felt Avaya had a complete bargain with me given the many roles and significant guidance I could provide. Yet I get let go because a spreadsheet said so.

Now, my previous colleagues have expressed how challenging their job is because my 'replacement' isn't a replacement at all. They have no idea. These layoffs went through zero scrutiny and IMO, was a very low effort decision making process.
