Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Don’t go to the parties..

Skip the holiday parties. Don’t socialize with leaders that don’t care about you and will fire you tomorrow.

Don’t feed their egos. It won’t help you in the layoffs.

Exxon cut thousands of people this year and still threw one heck of a Christmas Party that was so awesome people posted it on IG and TT…live music, live characters, family oriented, drone shows, food and drinks… Chevron definitely phoned it in this year. Actually, I have never seen Chevron throw a Christmas Party for the masses that compares. No one cares if you come or go to what they plan now.

“The IT holiday lunch will be probably the lamest party in history.”

SCM: “Hold my beer!” 😂😂😂

SR SCM had its Christmas party before Thanksgiving. I kid you not. You wanna talk about sad and depressing? How about plain white rice, the tiniest piece of salmon you ever saw, and two utterly forgettable salads. Our dessert was a tray of ultra-processed tasking cookies that I am almost positive could have come from Safeway.

It was saaaaaaddddd.

Oh, and we didn’t have enough seats, so some people had to stand the entire time at those tall co-ktail tables.

This is my last party with SCM, and it feels like we’re going out with a whimper.

I've had some good news the last couple weeks. I'm going to go to the parties, have a good time, then come back in the new year and do as little as possible (not hard to do in the 1st quarter) until the bonus check clears in March. After that, I turn in my notice and go work for ( ) where I can really start developing my career. It's really great being a short-timer!

The IT holiday lunch will be probably the lamest party in history. Even if you wanted to show up to kiss leaders’ @$$, this is a totally different crowd.

BB used to go around and talk to people, even during ROM times. He was warm, even when he didn’t know your name. LC, his cronies, and the current FLT don’t know how to connect with real people. I can’t imagine them doing anything “party-like”.

Show up and eat and drink with your coworkers.

I am curious to see whether these 2 future GMs, who currently still wear those green badges, are allowed to go to the holiday party. In the past, none of the contractors are invited to chevron sponsored holiday party events. Let’s see LC continue to break the rules.

I’m not going to the party anyway because I want to save $20 for parking. But the after party with the realest people though… I’ll go to that.

When 3 of the 4 PMP categories are about soft skills and who you know, you’d better believe it’s worth showing up to the parties and socializing with the higher ups. Get over yourself and go show your face, so that during selections next year they think of you as a “team player” and a person others want to be around.

I wouldn't miss wrastlemania for anything! You guys remember Haystack Calhoon? He was one mountain of a man! I still remember the legendary Hulk Hogan versus the Iron Shiek. So many great moments. Just recently with the Undertaker taking out the rock I was crying with joy. We should all watch WWE to get rid of stress

One team is heading over to the Pendulum in Houston. Now that's going to be an amazing party I'd like to go to!

I'm cool with the parties. You don't have to socialize with anyone you don't like. What's the big deal? Gonna miss wrestlemania? Lmao!

The parties aren’t even fun. If you think they’re fun, you have a very boring life.

Like I’m gunna have fun sitting with weird coworkers eating sh-t food listening to id--t leaders talk about how great 2024 was and be patient through coming changes. Hard pass.

You guys stay home all you want. I have plenty of job offers. I will party all night long on the company nickel. I'm not staying home and missing out on things and pouting like a sore butthurt loser. Why do you think anyone else cares about you denying yourself some fun or not? Life goes on. Get over yourselves.

Damn straight don’t go to the parties they’re just concerned with their bonuses not the workers.

@1kil, if being visible at a social function is more important in selections than capability, leadership skills or delivery then I think you may have identified an issue.

This is great advice! All of you, please stay away from parties where you have access to leaders, that way when you are mentioned for a selection they don't know who you are. Thank you

Where is the mandatory requirement to socialize? I never have and never will. Always go party and get my fill of food, drinks and laughs!

As a recovering alcoholic, I wouldn’t miss these types of events. Booze and appetizers. Plus, I heard there was going to be a Van Halen cover band! Bring it!!!

I think CVX Christmas parties have run their course. Drink tickets and sitting next to employees you hardly know doesn't do it for me.

Always thought it was an "ego boost" for the reporting officer to preach at us little people

I've already been told that I am a preferred candidate for EOI, so no need to stroke their ego any longer.

The IT party in Houston requires you to pay $19 for parking.

Mediocre chicken and some raffle prizes ain’t worth it. I’ll just go home early.

Do people actually feel some sort of obligation to go to those things?
