Selection process - Popularity contest?

Man, I’m really wondering if this time they’ll actually factor in education and experience during the selection process. Feels like there are so many so-called 'leaders' out there with zero legit education or real experience, just making mess after mess because they don’t actually get how the processes they are in charge off work. And don’t even get me started on the folks who copy their vibe—thinking they can hustle their way to a promotion just by faking competence and ja--ing other people’s work. You think they’ll finally step up and do some real competence checks, or is it just gonna be another popularity contest like usual?

Yup! Nepotism and lack of accountability are the root causes. The best way to fix them is MORE NEPOTISM and avoiding any responsibility!

At least we know up front that it is a popularity contest, because the joke of a selection process where you applied for jobs thinking that they actually evaluated candidates was a total waste of time. 95% of the time you'd guess who the job was going to.

Agree we are still reeling from 2020. Seems experience and results did matter but those that did that were the first to put up heir hands and leave. Why is it that the company culture crucifies the people that are results driven. No wonder we are filled with light weights. Chevron culture does not reward closers.

IT management is in dire need of a serious overhaul. Terms such as incompetent, complacent, and bungling barely scratch the surface in describing the pervasive dysfunction within the department. It has become an insular disaster, driven by inflated assumptions of its own effectiveness.

The damage inflicted on the business and the enterprise, particularly since the 2020 reorganization, is well-documented. IT's failures have significantly impacted overall performance, making it one of the most problematic teams in the Enterprise. Despite efforts, BB was unable to rectify the situation and had to be replaced.

Bringing in an external candidate was a necessary step, and while BK and MN could have done better, anything was preferable to the status quo. The department needs a decisive transformation—removing inefficiencies, addressing underperformance, and realigning the team towards delivering meaningful results.

Doubt they will ever learn the lesson. Its a total cluster fu-k with DEI on steroids, since "COVID", and as usual the assoles who got us into this mess will never pay for it. Every single day one witnesses the entire fckn mezzanine filled with some fckn diversity event or another with loud music and food for hours on end, and so called network leaders fckn wasting hours on end out of their work day. I mean, what a bloody waste?! Under whose watch was this allowed to happen?! Will they fckn pay the price?! Is it any wonder that they're having to layoff?!

It is a popularity contest in every company in the world. The guy who fishes with the boss is going to be the promotion every time. Sorry.

Who cares about education. Experience only matters if you actually deliver.

There are plenty of over educated do-nothings in the company who need to go.
