I’ve been at Elevance for less than four months, and now I’ve got an offer from a company I’ve been eyeing for years. I’m not thrilled or upset about my current job, but I can’t help but wonder if leaving now is the right move. Would it be wrong to walk away so quickly after just starting, even though this opportunity might be my best shot? I’d hate to burn any bridges, especially if this opportunity doesn’t turn out to be what I’m hoping for.

Be thankful for the offer and TAKE IT! This company is so toxic it pushes people to quit with no job lined up simply to protect their mental health. Good luck!
L E A V E I know you haven't been here long but take it from someone whose been here 20 years if you make it and don't get rif'd it only gets worse. Plus it sounds like you don't have anything to lose by leaving.
Do both. Overemplyment is the way to go, and you get two paychecks!
I left without a job lined up due to how toxic my day to day existence had become. I got a new job easily, the company reached out to me right after I left. I am also old, I am closer to 60 than I am to 50 and that was never an issue. This new job is amazing, everyone is working hard toward the same goals and there is transparency in decisions. I never once said my job was amazing at Elevance, even during the honeymoon period.
I feel like Elevance is emotionally abusive, we don’t realize our value because we are never enough in our leader’s eyes. Once you are out of their toxic web your eyes will be opened. I put half as much effort into my work as I did at Elevance and my new employer thinks I am knocking it out of the park. The workload and expectations at Elevance are not normal and you won’t see your value until you are working elsewhere.
Run, and don’t look back.
Many of us have left without jobs lined up. That's how bad this place is.
Why is this even a question??? No duh get out the writings in the wall(s)
No. You should stay. If you're asking this question you'll be in executive leadership soon because clearly you have bad judgement and reasoning skills, which is exactly the type of leader they like.
Leave why you have the opportunity to leave in your own terms.
Trust God and elevate and advance to the next opportunity. Your just an AD or AC # at Elevance they won’t even care that you have moved on.
don't worry and just leave, they are truthfully losing so much business they are going to have to let more people go, they need to get rid of all the DEI stuff and get rid of the leadership completely, losing 20% of the value of a company and they don't replace the board and leadership with somebody who knows what they are doing is the only way they can recover, it's embarrassing as an individual investor how much money they have been throwing away the past few years in order to not look like a bunch of rich white people is crazy! all of them need to be replaced before I would recommend staying here
Yes leave. And don’t look back. When I took this job I passed up another job offer. I regret that decision often. This is the worst Job I have ever had. I’ve worked for startups, I’ve worked for mom and pops, and Fortune 500s. I’ve been treated better by all of them, given equipment that isn’t a decade old and paid a living wage increase that’s not 2%. I’ve been asked to work on cost cutting projects that I just do not have the heart to complete so I won’t. I rather be seen as stupid and incompetent. I want out of this place ASAP.
I think you already know the answer. Do you want to hear an overwhelming YES from a group that's venting against the company? Do you want advice from a group who knows nothing about you? Make your own decision, talk to your family, and do what sounds right for you. Good luck.
Accept the offer at the other company. I wish I had left EH before hitting age 50. Hiding a 4-month job on a resume is very easy to do. Don't sweat that. Take the new opportunity. This place is becoming a sinking ship quickly. I am not that far from retirement now and experience age discrimination in the job market. That is the only reason I am trying to stick it out here.
Take the offer and run. If this is the job you have been waiting for, take it or you will regret it. You owe this company nothing and the company truly doesn't value their employees. It's a sinking ship. Best of luck in the new job. You need to be happy.
If you have a solid offer GO and don't look back! By middle of 2025 you will look like the smart person for taking an opportunity when you have it.
If you’re asking the question than you know the answer…
I'd accept that offer Monday morning and not look back because we're going to RIF you eventually, and not care, anyway.
At will employment works both ways. Congrats on the new job!
Take the other job and don't look back! Lookout for you and what is in your best interest.
@OP Do you feel the job at the other company would be better for you in all aspects, especially if this has been a company you've been eyeing for years?
ELV actually used to be a great place to work. It is literally the exact opposite of what it used to be. Senior leadership values themselves and their stockholders over anything else. The associates and members/customers are an afterthought.
The company getting sc--wed up the way it has didn't happen overnight. It also can't be fixed overnight either (not even sure how many years it could take to right the ship).
Go there are layoffs coming!
The offer may never come around again, and you will regret it. GO!
The company is downsizing and there are stories of new hires being let go. The company will not hesitate to do what’s in its best effort and neither should you.
I worked @ Elevance for a long time. I thought the grass wasn't greener on the other side. I was wrong. I got layed off and I am amazed how much better the culture is at my new company. I wished I had left years ago.
Run to the other position, you haven’t been here long enough to even get Supplemental when you are rif’d
so you're afraid to leave because all the positive ELV comments?
