Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Don’t Quit Five Minutes Before the Miracle

On a positive note: I recently considered leaving the Avaya when another great opportunity came my way. However, I chose to stay because, deep down, I feel like I belong here.

Let’s continue to take positive actions alongside the leadership team, even if the results take time to materialize. Change often requires patience and perseverance, but the journey can be just as rewarding as the destination.

And if Avaya is eventually acquired, who’s to say it won’t lead to even greater success? It’s entirely possible that the acquirer could recognize the value of our team and fully integrate us into their vision for the future.

So, my message to all of us is simple: Don’t quit five minutes before the miracle happens. Let’s stay focused, optimistic, and committed to creating something extraordinary.

Avaya doesn't not care about it's employees .
This is clearly seen in how they lay off people having years and years with them. A friend said it like this "we got put out like the garbage". 4 weeks of severance for 20+ years of service, 4 hours warning before shut out of environment, only email addresses provided for all laid off to seek help with any issues (for issues with payroll or HR), and an 9 page involuntary separation plan (full of legal wording) requiring signature to get your 4 weeks of severance!

Avaya has burned it's bridge with me. I am now looking for companies that truly live transparency values and value their employees!

My recommendation to existing employees: Get your resume updated and start looking for a new employer who will hopefully treat you the way a human being should be treated!

Lmao!!! Run as quickly as you can!!! Severance pay…we got paid for 1 week in Nov & being told severance is coming Dec pay period…so skip $$ for all of Dec & live in the weeks pay & wait until Jan 1st for your severance. If you have Avaya equipment…get rid of it & chose another Company!! Avaya is a joke!

Welcome to the discussion AM and PD. That being said, if you've been with the company a long time then wait and take the package. Most places have strict rules for making people redundant, you'll get a good settlement. However, if you are in the US then you're sc--wed.

At this point nobody should be quitting. Wait for the package, either from Avaya or whoever gets su-kered into buying you.

Don’t walk away from the severance you e warned through all the stresses that have been put on yoh.

I applaud your delusional optimism. It was advice similar to this that kept me at the company longer, naive to reality, holding out hope. It works on some people, desperate times.

Now that sounds like an Alan sound bite if I ever heard one. Don’t believe many will bite. Nice try.

They are outsourcing a huge chunk in 2 weeks. Another big chunk after that. You probably won't be at Avaya when it gets sold.

That’s a generous-hearted sentiment. Just don’t fall into the trap of thinking that a multinational company will have the same loyalty to you when the going is tough.
