Do managers get notified when direct reports apply for internal roles?

I know you’re supposed to tell your manager if you get an interview and/or offer.

Do they get a notification when reports submit an application?

Of course the appropriate managers are notified of human resource actions that affect their team. Why would you think they are not notified?. Employees with a working sanctioned HR development plan would require scope of management awareness and engagement…

Yes, managers are notified! HR notifies your manager that you have applied for another role. It isn't supposed to happen, but they do. You are also required to inform your manager (it says that when you apply).

No they won’t find out unless the hiring manager contacts them.

No but the general rule is you should tell your manager if you get scheduled for an interview.

No - HR expects you to tell your manager. However, the manager of the job you're applying to may reach out to your current manager for feedback on your performance.

Depends on your internal system. Do you use something like Workday?
