it seems they are cutting 1-5 people per department, so it's quiet. Any way to a) find out all the cuts and b) find press to report it?

They're not cutting positions or moving them to LLCs, they're firing people and immediately backfilling their spots.

I guess companies can avoid the fine (that's all it is) if they offer a severance package greater than what the fine would be.

It would be bad if the incoming Trump administration got wind of Ford's plant to replace American engineering workers with teams in LCCs.

And that's why I said the ships gotta sink or swim. C suite can absolutely sink the company with their stupidity of the want.
Not being naive, but at some point you have to do your best to block out the noise and look out for yourself. I know many who had a fire lit under their a-s after being cut and are in much better positions now. They all admit that had they not been cut, they'd still be in their dead end jobs being treated like garbage. Ford lulls you in with its mediocrity, chews you up, and spits you back out. Either you fail upwards or get put back in the applicant pool.
What you're missing is this isn't a house cleaning. This is a shifting if jobs out of SE Michigan and into LCCs.
The reason the leaders feel the need to do this is because of their own terrible leadership and decisions. Hard working salaried employees are the ones bearing the brunt of terrible leaders at the top.
This isn't about Ford being bloated, this is about the C-suite throwing money down the drain, and then telling long-time, valuable, and talented people that they are out of a job, while opening job reqs in Mexico, Brazil, India and China.
Don't be so naive.
While it is unfortunate that people are losing their jobs before Christmas, you have to admit the elephant in the room that Ford is bloated and needs to clean house. We have an entire subsidiary getting paid a hefty sum than their Ford in house counterparts doing the exact same jobs, but in a sandbox. We have a LL5 that was promoted to LL4 in the midst of camera recalls that landed a NHTSA fine. We have people out in Irvine thinking they can scrap the playbook and build a car from scratch. The company is bleeding. The company is sh-t.
If cleaning house yields a better working environment then so be it. And if it expedites the decay, then so be it as well. The ships gotta sink or swim and the sooner it does either the better off we'll all be.

Hope you find something soon. Just keep in mind some of these performance bars are high enough they don't necessarily expect them to be met. Lots of CYA going on. Just don't tie your self image to your separation for a second. Companies separate employees in attempts to hire same roles for lower cost.
My advice: This forum is not worth your time any longer unless you are imparting perspective on your experience being employed or separated by Ford. Otherwise, concentrate on moving forward as there isn't anything here that's going to help you unless you're going back (which would spell death for your career and mental health).

I was cut. I’m in MS&S. I was doing the job of formerly 3 LL6s prior to 2018. I saw this coming 1-1.5 years ago when they mandated poor reviews.
Connected Vehicle cut 2, I was one of them so do not call me a troll. I am freaked out about paying for my family. I don't know if the sheet I saw was by ll4 or by ll5. if by ll5, then connected probably cut more.
I have noticed an unusual number of LL4 announcing retirement on LinkedIn even though they are really not retiring. Any leader that does not kiss a$$ is being laid off.

The CTP basically gave managers a license to eliminate the emplyees they dislike without regard to performance or rating.
GTC cut 2 that I personally know of over the past two weeks. When my supervisor informed us of the separations, she also told us that HR is pushing for performance-based terminations.
Agree, this seems to be the method, I've heard of several on different days. No idea how to verify numbers or how widespread.
