Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

If only it was a bit easier to find another job

I would be out of here in a second. I hope the job market improves, so I can finally work towards better offers. I’ve not had great experience for the past few months with job search. I’m not asking for much better, just a bit better or at least comparable. The scarcity of decent jobs makes me even more depressed about staying at Avaya.

Start looking sooner rather than later. Don’t wait for the ship to sink.

Does not help that this is the worst time of year for job openings either.

I thought the same when ay Avaya, had been searching for months before the latest layoff. That little green banner “open to work” on LinkedIn works miracles. I had so many I hadn’t thought of in ages messaging me asking me what I was looking for and making intros. If you’ve been building a strong network throughout your employment, lean on them heavily.

Just start your own business .. tons of money to be made working on avaya equipment. You do not need to work for avaya to work on avaya.

Was in the same mindset about 2 years ago until I realised I was under selling myself due to years of working in a toxic workplace. Don't look for roles based on the inflated job title Avaya gave instead of pay increases. Look at your skills. Search for jobs that align with your skills. I found a job with a major change in job title and industry but I had the skills and ended up getting paid 25% more.
