Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

We need new blood at Chevron

And not talking about people from Texaco or Unocal. They are part of the Chevron culture problem by now. We need real change and leaders. Have not seen much from PDC or REG but Noble brought many good leaders. However some of them have left by now. Our next CEO should be external, not the person who was in charge of the FGP disaster in various roles. FGP is not a one person mess as it is being portrayed. The CFO had her hands all over it. We need real change, THAT would be true ‘accountability’. Not the same people at the top being reshuffled. Perhaps what happened to Exxon with engine 1 would be good for Chevron. And for goodness sake, please stop hemorrhaging hundreds of millions in CNE pet projects while laying off our good people. Also, hope the people from downstream running this upstream company (in case we forgot, we ARE an integrated upstream company) realize what exploration means for Chevron and how it built the company to what it is today and how it will shape it into the future. That’s why HESS is being bought, exploration success.
Finally, certain group having baristas and free food in their floor while downstream pinches pennies is an insult. Send those leaders to work at a refinery for five years so they understand what cost control is. Heck, send ALL leaders of Chevron to work at a refinery for five years. Be kind to each other during the upcoming hunger games season.

Every-time i have an outside the office unfiltered talked w a horizons working in IT - most always say the same thing to me. I’m not getting paid sh*t while these senior IT guys who dont know IT and get things really done are making tons of money.

As an experienced hire, these comments not surprising at all - too many of our mid and senior IT leaders know how to milk the PMP system and know how to be visible & “build relationships” but don't really know the IT work at “the gemba” … horizons folks can see it a mile away… yes, new blood is needed

So you guys are all willing to leave for new blood to step in or every one of you on this board is somehow special and great and not part of the ones who should be replaced? That's hard to believe. Watch what you wish for.

The root cause of Chevron's problems is its adherence to promotions from within, and usually from mediocre people (the good ones realize their worth and go to other companies). The best thing that could happen now is to raid other companies of their good lower and mid management people, who would come in and see that the Chevron emperor has no clothes.

IT is about to lose a few people they wouldn’t want to lose. But probably doesn’t really matter anyway with what LC is about to go accomplish

We have actually had some good talent come through….but, inevitably they leave the company via early retirement or just before that at the GM/VP level b/c they realize they are stuck unless they assimilate. There are many examples of talent leaving in their 40’s or very early 50’s and going on to lead other companies and having tremendous success. The mediocrity stays behind and the “politico” group binds together and milks the system of the plebes. We are su-kers to the click that rules, it su-ks, but that is the truth……

Not going to happen. Period! The ELT is a closed group that is carefully selected. I'm surprised when the brought in the guy from the car company. I don't see him lasting very long.

Diversity of thought is really lacking at CVX. And has been for many years. Anyone who thinks differently, is managed, downsized or told to think the way everyone does. We need people with diversity of thought, not clones!

Agree with the Unocal thought. All the talented 76ers have left or the few remaining are kept in place. We lost a few good ones in 2024. Probably the same for Texaco. The die was cast for them when the ChevronTexaco farce ended.

If we could just say things like this in a town hall without fear of repercussions. Isn’t that one of the CES questions?
