It sounds like this OPEX team is a major expense to the organization with zero return on the investment.

With the state of the finances why are they still employed?

Yup. And Gainwell is going to continue to push this model. They have no choice. They are operating in the red financially. They have to get that straightened out or go bankrupt. Bankruptcy or a sale - if not both are on the horizon.

There is no federal law that prohibits offshore labor in Medicaid. That is individually mandated by states. As long as the vendor can meet technical and security requirements in the contract. States want to save money too. Facts.

The offshore model is sustainable and it is the choice of the company. It is used widely in the industry. I get that you don’t like it but you don’t really seem to know what you are talking about.

Do you even work for GWT?

$5 million would pay for a lot of Indian labor.

Operational Excellence

They are supposed to be problem solvers. A team of people that take on the organizations problems and solves them in a measurable way. So they should be able to show results by gaining the organization more revenue or time etc. or they are able to make something more efficient and then the org can cut heads.

But this team hasn’t shown any results to speak of. They are a massive cost to the company. These people are highly paid - I would estimate on average they make around $130k a year plus benefits. Last I knew the team was around 15 people or so. That’s a big cost to not deliver any results.

They worked on a Provider Enrollment revamp project that offered some automation to solve some issues. But it has been a massive failure.

They are supposed to be used to help with things like all of the corrective action plans that Gainwell is on with all the states. Around 80% of the states have the org on a corrective action plan due to poor performance. Gainwell su-ks at what they do. They miss the majority of their SLAs. Can’t deliver anything they falsely promise.

But then again the entire organization doesn’t deliver any results and they steal money from the states just so they can not deliver.

But I digress. I can see why the org would want to eliminate this OPEX team.

Cutting this team would save them around $3-$5 million a year.

The OPEX team would have to save the company $5 million year over year to just break even and justify their existence. And they haven’t delivered anything.

What is OPEX? What do they do?

Yep. GWT is destined to fail.

Staying on board is contributing to the theft going on.

They need to cut the offshore Teams. This has turned into a sh-t-show not because of incompetence but the fact the US Teams are no-where near the same Time Zone. Offshore sends meeting requests and don't even look to see what time zone you are in and then your computer start making noises at 4am. Who's great cost cutting idea was this? You should be building your Teams based on States or Countries and let them work as a Team supporting the specific accounts they built. Instead you move everyone around and everyone becomes a complete stranger to each other. This model is not self sustaining.

DDI and OPEX to have heavy layoffs by end of year. OPEX may be cut completely. Leaders are not seeing documented results or ROI for that team.

As Gainwell continues to be extremely top heavy they will continue to target teams like this to justify keeping their own positions.

Good luck to all that choose to stay working for GWT. But the writing is on the wall. They continue to decline financially and continue to push layoffs to keep hiring more executives. Looks like it might be time to find a new place to work.

If they cut people in the DDI group, the decisions will most likely be made by managers who don't have a clue. They will keep the su-kups at the expense of people who do real work. They have no idea of the real impact of their decisions on the remaining delivery team members, just the dollar signs assigned to the positions they cut. Such BS!

Agree with the previous post. It is 100% theft. Anyone who says the contrary is in denial.

I refuse to be part of the theft. Last day is Friday. I care about people more than money.

Gainwell is and always will be a cesspool.

Those that stay employed there are part of the absolute theft going on at the organization.

Flat out theft plain and simple.

This is interesting. Not surprising because this is how Gainwell operates.

The most interesting part is the finances. Again not surprising. Gainwells poor management continues to erode their finances.
