Rumors about RTO 4 (5?) days a week starting January are increasing... And rumors in this company are more reliable than official announcements...

HR have said there won't be any official announcements. Expectations are for managers to tell their teams.
My office got announcement today. 4 days from 1 Jan 2025. Said it was company wide policy.
What about US? Any rumor on RTO?
This is the chatter in London but no email announcement has gone out
They are doing this RTO to encourage people to leave. It is designed to target older people / those with kids who need the flexibility for kids / looking after their old folks as unsurprisingly, these people will be on higher salaries so the cost savings will be greater.
I suspect they’ll look to hire younger people or outsource to their offshore friends in Accenture India.
My major concerns are related to the fact that, as many here have highlighted, in many offices there is no room for all the employees, and surely they are not going to lease more spaces. So what will happen to the thousands of people around the organization thet will not have a granted seat at the desk? We are all thinking of the same thing I guess... That's AIG Next for you!! Also in my Country another company apparently wants to cut WFH, still another american based insurer... I
However I don't see yet a turnaround for everyone, also because remote working will be more and more a perk that will make the employer spare a lot of money and greatly reduce turnover.. And in any case, If you mistreat your employees they are going to get their revenge sooner or later... in AIG you just have to follow the id--tic procedures to make things rot!!
4 days a week RTO in London from 1/1. Lots of very unhappy people but probably part of the plan to get people to leave voluntarily without having to pay them off.
It’s been communicated by some department heads but not all. If you think they give a damn about your “childcare” or “dog walking” arrangements you’d be wrong.
Bad news is other UK insurers ramping up RTO as well so number of other places to hide will become more limited.
Those who resist RTO managers have been strictly told to degrade performance review and prepare for RIF. That way the employee will be made to feel useless for any jobs. Old id--ts will be made to be feel like leach has su-ked their blood and they are fit for nothing and useless.
I’m not in Ops, but have friends working in Ops (in the U.S.) that’s been told RTO of 4 days a week.
Who has said that it is absolutely four days from Jan? I haven’t seen any internal emails mandating this in UK? There already is a staffing crisis so will they fire staff who don’t adhere to four days ?
In the UK we've been told absolutely four days in the office from 1/1 and they're not including Friday. So all non-remote staff in Monday-Thursday.
We've already had potential recruits decline us because of this.
I don’t think there is enough room at the offices for this mandate. Even when the underwriters are only required to be in 3 days a week it’s very difficult to get a cubicle for 2 days a week.
I haven't received any notice about RTO. Five days a week doesn't make any sense. It's not possible. Most office locations have down sized the seating arrangements since Covid. So how do you have the entire office staff return when they don't have sufficient seats? I agree, RTO is coming but it will be limited to only four days per week.
It’s confirmed 5 days a week starting in January the RC CFO has really been pushing for everyone back.
What’s the communication timeline/plan for RTO? Is this being applied to all orgs across the company? Will people that can’t comply be offered severance?
Hopfully we'll receive notice well in advance of any RTO mandate since many of us will need to make changes for daycare and elderly services.
