Thoughts on the email sent to all associates on Friday ? Another way of the company trying to micro manage . It is terrible here in CSBD

“Starting January 1, 2025, salaried workers earning less than $1,128/week, or $58,656 annually will be eligible for overtime pay”
This is no longer correct. Biden did authorize the increase to $58,656 in April, to be effective Jan 1, but it was overturned by a federal judge on November 15 (one Trump appointed btw).
It rolled back the overtime pay requirement only for people who make under $35,568. It had been increased to $43,888 in July but this was also rolled back, so people in that $35-43k range no longer get overtime pay.
The new administration can appeal this but currently there isn’t any appetite to do so based on direct quotes from incoming administration (including Trump).
I don’t get it. I’ve been using the web clock since I started over 5 years ago. So what’s changed?
Pay Laws | States + Federal (2025 Update)
Starting January 1, 2025, salaried workers earning less than $1,128/week, or $58,656 annually will be eligible for overtime pay.
Many employers opt to use specialized payroll platforms that can automate overtime calculations and payments.
So my job is to be on the phone - but I am supposed to come into the office to sit next to people I don't know and not talk to because my job is to talk to members on the phone - makes total sense- I guess the "networking" happens when I go to lunch to "talk" to people who are just as irritated as I am, that I don't know, don't do my job, and cannot add to my work, performance or outcomes.
Badging in and out. Wow. I remember when I did that working retail 30 years ago.
Badging in and out is forced family fun at it's most pointless. Trapping people in a building they 1. Have proven they dont need to be in to do their job 2.don't want to be in....won't make anyone any more productive.
How is watercooler chat for 8 straight hours a good use of my time? So glad I heard about someone's golf game for 45 min instead of doing my actual job last week btw.
Human nature 101 - people will go to the office when there is a reason for them to go. Staying off the badge swipe report is not a legitamite reason nor is, "we think you'll like seeing each other". If you don't have actual reasons to share then shut up and let people work from the place that makes sense to them.
How much $ can we save by not having to employ people, probably at cgs, to create reports and audit badge swipes for 100k people? That seems like a nonvalue add part of the company....add that to the dec rif.
They are doing whatever they can to get people to quit so they don't have to pay Supp payouts when riffing people. Hopefully the job market will finally become active again in early Spring 2025 so those of us that want to get out can......
My read on the Webtime clock requirement change was that it applied to hourly workers only. But if I read the tea leaves correctly, badging in AND out will be coming soon. I can only hope I’m out by then.
what was the email about? I didn't receive it.
It's all about control. Same with RTO.
They trust you enough to hire you, but not enough to work in the way that works for you while still meeting or beating expectations.
These things are just to remind you of who is in charge, as if anyone was confused.
As if all of the other tracking methods weren’t overkill…. Let’s add one more thing. Lol
